According to SJ2's website, the most popular major on campus is Animal Husbandry. Tommies aren't too familiar with raising livestock, so here's a question for you Johnnies. Do you rely on cutting edge technology or good old-fashioned manual stimulation to collect the semen? I'm thinking most Johnnies have stuck with manual stimulation. Fours years up in Collegeville, with nary a woman in sight, allowed them to hone their technique; they became artists, and that sort of talent shouldn't be wasted. In fact, maybe that's the true value of an SJ2 education...

An SJU grad is on an airplane. Another passenger sits next to him. Halfway through the flight, the Johnnie says, "Hey, you must be a graduate of UST."

The other passenger says, "Why, yes I am. How could you tell? Was it my wit, my sophistication, my savoir faire?"

The Johnnie says, "Nope. I saw your class ring while you were picking your nose."

It is a little disturbing the amount of time you spend thinking about/obsessing over SJU student's sex lives.  8-)

I'm asking about how they practice Animal Husbandry. It makes sense that you thought I was talking about their sex lives, though.  ;)

What is more recent:

The invention of the iPhone or a Johnnie team advancing to the NCAA quarters?

The invention of Facebook or a Johnnie appearance in the NCAA semi's?

Went through the Johnnies game notes, still get a kick out of seeing how they created their own alternate unofficial attendance record for last year to keep the streak alive.  That Target Field game and the couple hundred thousand the Twins gave to the Tommies as their guarantee probably has more to do with the Johnnies charging for webstreams than fear of losing attendance does.

I chuckled at that also.

How about some serious bets on the attendance figure for this Saturday? The football product itself (and weather, cold but dry I think) suggests a baseline of about 17k with historical precedent. I would think that should be easily surpassed. Will we see 20k+?
Looking at the weather forecast right now 48 degrees and 12 mph wind, I'll take the under on 17k.  That's good football weather but I think the big crowds of the past few years was supported by the much warmer September weather.

Could well be 17K but it would be really difficult to get 20,000 people in and out of that area.

Stadium could hold it, right? With lots of folks on the grass.

The few times I have gone I either arrived nice and early or came on a bus, so I didn't have a handle on how bad the parking situation was for those that came closer to game time or how much more could be supported. There seemed to be plenty of room in the stands in 2016.

I'll be printing a few copies of that for my 8 year old, as she was watching a bit of Johnnie-Bethel film with me earlier this week to scout out which of the bad guys we need to watch out for.

Make sure she studies up on the Johns' assistant coaches.

Wonder if Woody Hayes Jr is still on staff after slugging that unsuspecting UST student athlete on the sideline a couple years ago?

I defer to others with more experience, but when I was there in '15, the hillsides were packed full (SW corner in particular) and there were even people in the trees in the SE corner.  I'd take the under on Saturday, say 15k.

I have about as many good responses to this as I do children. Like my children, I just can't pick a favorite.

Let me tell you, the folks I know who went to St Thomas. So many babies. If we are any indication, the Tommies will reign for a thousand years.

On the bright side, the Johnnies can look forward to setting a new attendance record for games in October between top 10 ranked teams in the state of Minnesota with temperatures in the 40s in the week following the death of a previous coach. A record that will never be broken so they can put it in their game notes forever!

If I'm right about somewhere between 17-20k, I'll definitely refer back to the attendance naysayers and bring this up next week. If I'm wrong, we can pretend that this discussion never happened.

Just when I thought Mr Dowdle couldn't play with any more intensity, he gets to return to the scene of the crime. Saturday is gonna be a fun one.

Whatever it is, I am sure Tom Stock has passed on the Johnnie math for attendance: roundup to the nearest thousand and multiply by 120%.
