Good points. I almost wrote that maybe the solution is to rank 15 teams/region. It seems like you're getting a better sample of the top teams who are sniffing the playoffs or good enough to affect which teams are in the tournament.

And yeah, I think SJU could get it over Brockport. But I think the pesky (but generally good) 'what did you do in the playoffs last year' really hurts SJU in this scenario. I think for SJU to get real consideration for a #1, they need to undress Thomas Moore. They need a Monkey StompTM type outcome.

Even then, it would be the wrong team.

Sorry, sir.  Its about the only thing I can say this week...

If you can beat the Johnnies, we can refer to this game as the St Thomas vs St John's game this year and keep Tommie-Johnnie in its proper order.

I hope to revisit this subject in a few days.  But, the Saints have never, in their history, beaten a team that wears red and plays home games north of Minneapolis..

I am coming from Boston to watch what I hope is NOT my alma mater's final D3 game... and being played at Saint John's is a huge bonus.  Its a bucket list D3 stadium for this former player.

From one fan of a (St) Thomas University school to another, St John's is a beautiful place to watch football. It's just a shame about all the horrible people who went to school there.

Literally, the school went from TMC to TMU in September.. TM is very safe.  :)

Also, Boston was a great visit. Lobster Roll at Neptune Oyster Bar. Mike's Pastries. Antico Forno for some chicken parm. Walked 40+ miles in 4 days, so I didn't even half to feel guilty about all the calories I consumed! Very cool city, for a history nerd, it was a lot of fun.

You did well... Its definitely very walkable, but you need comfortable shoes.  I'm sorry I didn't see your message.  I would've sent you to Neptune, though.

I've been here going on 4 years - as a fellow history nerd, I love it here.  So much to do..

Seven of the 15 highest attended games have taken place at Clemens Stadium.  And eight of the 15 have involved SJU.  The Johnnie Army represents.

You will enjoy the experience at SJ2. This is one attribute that can't be denied. I still hope to make it to a game there this year yet (and I am a Tommie fan, and feel somewhat fortunate that I had to miss T/J game this year).

As much as I would like to see a BU victory this weekend due to pettiness, I think you'll have a chance for JvT II: The Return to Boogieland in the second round.

I have a really hard time believing this attracts anywhere near the 37k we got. But I don't really have a good grasp of the respect fanbase footprints or what kind of attendance they might attract on campus with a larger capacity (apparently it's typically around 10k but sells out). It's far enough from the respective schools that it feels a little odd.

So long as we don't pull an SJU and lose to a CCIW or 2nd tier WIAC team.

Oz,

Well the two teams seem to be heading in opposite directions (this year) I almost would rather see you guys play someone else, but you can bet I will be there though if it happens!

Yeah -- the game has drawn 12,000 in the past but they moved to limit the ticket sales because the overflow crowd stuff was becoming a problem.

WEST
1   Wisconsin-Whitewater   8-0   8-0
2   Saint John's (Minnesota)   9-0   9-0
3   Whitworth   8-0   8-0
4   Bethel (Minnesota)   8-1   8-1
5   Linfield   6-1   6-2
6   St. Thomas (Minnesota)   7-1   8-1
7   Monmouth (Illinois)   8-1   8-1
8   Wisconsin-La Crosse   6-2   6-3
9   Dubuque   7-2   7-2
10   Claremont-Mudd-Scripps   7-2   7-2

Just because there isn't much else to talk about on this day...

If UWEC continues it's streak of big wins and knocks over La-Crosse then there is no further argument for UWW on top right?

* Win/loss v D3?  Both 1.000
* H2H?  Hasn't happened.
* D3 common opponents?  Even at 2-0 each, but SJU has a slight scoring advantage if we're spitting hairs
* Results v RRO? SJU 2-0, UWW 1-0  (if UWEC wins then surely UWW or 0-0 on this criteria while SJU remain 2-0, possibly 3-0 in you include TM)
* SOS?  I can't project but SJU are finishing against a team that will be 6-3, while UWW will have 4-6.  Surely that brings it close.

* And the previous post-season tie break goes to SJU who at least had one.

It seems to me that a Johnnie victory on the weekend makes if very hard not to rank them number 1.  A La-Cross loss surely seals that deal.

But it is true, that other than BB banter this is meaningless.  You've got to beat the best to be the best and you must beat them wherever you meet them.

But that part of New Jersey is so beautiful at that (and any!) time of the year.

OzJohnnie

Speaking of beautiful, it's the time of year when Melbourne hosts the Spring Racing Carnival.  The weather broke on the afternoon of the Melbourne Cup ("the race that stops a nation") but it's been pretty ugly most of the time.  Today is Oaks Day, the second last major day of racing (Stakes Day on Saturday wraps up the carnival). And boy has the weatherman delivered.

The forecast for Saturday in Collegeville is for temps in mid 20's so unfortunately this will keep the students indoors and some less hearty fans as well. It will definitely dampen the overall experience but its still a great venue and should be a fun game to brave the temps to watch.
