Any idea when MIAC Awards get announced?

My Picks:

COY: Fasching SJU (I'd love to say Coach J here, since we were .500 last year, but SJU is humming and unbeaten)
MVP: Erdman SJU
Stam: Kilgore BU

I think Johnson would be a great pick for COY, really getting that Bethel program up and running. Roste was a great difference maker, but Bethel seemed to be improved all over the field.

You'd get no argument from me! Coach Mac has really put his stamp on their new 4-2-5 defensive scheme as well. They took some lumps getting it up and running last year, but were really comfortable in it as the season wore on.

Hazz,

I'll be shocked if your picks are not 100% correct!

If only Vegas tended to play out the same way for me ;D

Pat's question on the cover page about which team that didn't make the playoffs, should have....could have been written; Which team that didn't make the playoffs would have had the best chance to do damage in the playoffs?  Easy answer from me would be UST.  They would have destroyed the entire East bracket...likely in the finals of the Mount Union bracket...would have won several games (match up specific) in the UWW bracket and likely would have been the 3rd best team in the UHMB/SJU bracket.

Based on the opening X number of weeks of the season, I'd totally agree, but they didn't finish the season that way. With that in mind, it didn't really bother me that UST didn't have a chance to make the postseason.

They absolutely shouldn't have made it in. And I'm even a bit skeptical about what kind of run we would have made with the way we were playing. We've got an offseason to make the adjustments we need and get back at it next year.

Anyone have any idea if Trinity is a multi-year contract? I assume we'll have Eau Claire (a feisty EC at that) back as our other OOC game.

I realize the D3 playoffs are designed in a different fashion for a different purpose (not exclusively for the Nation's best teams) and thus I was never expecting them to get in this year after the Bethel loss.  If we followed the same parameters as FCS, UST would be a nightmare matchup for most teams.

The two teams that caught the Tommies this year are both coached by incredibly seasoned coaches that have both won at very high levels.  Keep in mind that it took over 30 MIAC consecutive wins before it happened....makes the Mount Union conference domination even more amazing.

They have 10 automatic bids and 14 at-large. Wouldn't 14 at-large be nice?

At least the Johnnies get some lovin'.

Guess the Royals will just have to show them on the field that they deserve to be in this years playoffs.

Quality QBs are much harder to find today and those that are good are fiercely fought over at all levels of college football.

Recruiting really comes down to which coaches can create a vision of a successful football program that compliments and supports a prospective student athlete's academic needs in a location that fits what a kid is comfortable with.  Some do this well, some don't....some schools are attractive, some aren't.....some teams win, some don't.
The overall player development at SJU over the past 3 years has been outstanding. Since Gary was named HC recruiting has kicked into high gear but the JV program, I believe, has been one of the keys to this player development.

The QB development by Erdmann has been kicked up a notch this year. I'm still deciding if that is one factor or a combination of things. Is it Jackson himself , or Heckendorf's scheme? What ever it is keep it coming.
As of now they're on DOUBLE SECRET Probation!

I' not sure the Johnnies know how powerful the Whitworth lines are....  :o

bluenote

I've heard that Whitworth has been consulting with PLU on some "trick plays".... not sure if the Johnnies will be ready for the old hook and ladder... ??? That could be a game breaker?  :-*

Duff,
I know there are limits for playoffs but does the MIAC limit the number of players on the traveling squad during regular season?

Rubbing elbows with the Elite crowd at The Minneapolis Club last night which reminded me of Dr. Reverend MIAC. Unfortunately, I did not see any kind of shrine to UST but again I was socializing and I did not look too hard at all. The rare Auggie gets a chance to walk the halls of a place like that but what can I say, I got lucky. Clearly a certain type of gentleman is preferred there and I could imagine a conversation between two football fans but likely a debate between Notre Dame or Ivy League fans. I could imagine a brisk conversation of the Johnnie Tommie game but I saw no evidence of it.

Looking forward to seeing some MIAC teams in the playoffs. Will SJU stream their playoff run for free? I assume Bethel's run will be no charge and I assume they will get past Wartburg because I have a conflict tomorrow during the day. "Fingers crossed" for both SJU and Bethel to go deep in the playoffs.

I think Pat confirmed a few pages back that it has to be, since they can't charge for the playoffs per NCAA rules.

SagatagSam

Anyone have an idea as to why the Johnnies video stream on Stretch says:

"Audio commentary will not be available for this broadcast."

Is there another whacko NCAA rule that prohibits radio play-by-play being paired with the video stream of the games?
