Great story about Johnnies quarterback Jackson Erdmann from the Star Tribune. Great promotional value for his Gagliardi Trophy chances.  Pretty amazing kid.

And I thought his 13 TD passes in his last four quarters (plus 6 seconds) were impressive ....

Great story.
Seems like a perfect fit for him at SJU. Well done.

Happy Thanksgiving D3 posters!!

Playoff football is fun. But great to pause and be grateful for the things that really matter: health, family, friends, and smoked turkey 🦃🙃

Yea I'm pretty sure whatever is true of Bethel in their last 3 games is probably true for NCC as well. Contrary to most opinions, This game is gonna come down to how well NCCs defense contains Bethels offense in my opinion.

Perhaps.  BU can consistently hit at least 21 points (being held to less than 20 only once) even against tough defences and they have only scored blowouts against the real sieves.  Therefore, I expect them to score 22-28 against NCC.  According to Massey the NCC and UST defenses are of similar strength and BU put 21 on UST.

BU also has a tough defense, allowing more than 30 only once (and over 20 twice) and that was in the first half of the season.  They have been a defensive rock since then and have stuffed the Tommies (a challenge) and Wartburg (less so) in the last couple weeks.

Being there is pretty good predictability about the BU offensive output, I reckon the question is the NCC scoring capability.  NCC only scored under 30 one time all year and that was in the middle of the season.  In fact, NCC hasn't faced a defense rated as strong as BU's since that loss to Wheaton.

This is a game on a knife edge.  Will be interesting to watch (out of one chameleon eye as I focus on the Johnnie match).

First and foremost, Happy Thanksgiving to all you Turkeys!

As a reply to this post of OZJ, to clarify, Bethel offense scored 14 pts against St Thomas and had only172 yds of offense. They had a blocked punt for the 3rd TD. I'll have some other thoughts on this game I'll post in the CCIW room later today or tomorrow. I think the game comes down to NCC defense and Bethel offense for the following reasons:

I am comfortable using national rankings as these two teams both come from tough conferences with other nationally ranked teams. NCC is a top 5 offense against a top 5 defense. Strength against strength. NCC has faced a top 5 defense before (Wheaton), Bethel has not faced a top 5 offense (St Johns 11th). If NCC's offense gets enough chances, they will score. No matter how good you are on defense, you can't give a top 5 offense too many chances. Which brings me to the other side of the ball.

Bethel's offense is ranked 60th, NCC's defense 35th. Bethel is basically 70/30 run vs pass. The strength of their offense is the OLine. If they can control the LOS and the time of possession (ranked top 10 nationally in TOP) they will limit NCC's chances and can control the game. If NCC's defense can stop the run (Top 20 Nationallay at Run defense) and get a lead, Bethel's passing game doesn't scare anybody. Bethel is going to run it 40+ times and pass it 10-20x. IF they can average anywhere close to their 5.2 yds per rush, they will win.

Also, Bethel had it's two biggest games so far (STJU/STT) at home and this one is on the road. Field conditions won't be a factor with field turf at Benedettoi-Wherli Stadium.

Happy Thanksgiving, all.  And since the Vikings aren't playing they don't introduce suck to the day, which is twice as nice.

@USee, you may be right that it's the NCC defense v Bethel offense.  If it is then you're golden as the BU offense doesn't put up points like NCC does.  It seems to me, though, that if BU's strength is defense and NCC's strength is offense then that's were the battle will be fought.

I'd be interested to find out where you get those rankings from, though.
