Touchdown Tommy

Dear Godfather,

My brother and I took in the Twins game last night at the Dome.  In the row in front of us was a dead ringer for THE Johnnie Red.  I took his business card in case you want to sneak out of the office for official Johnnie football business he can sit in as your stunt double.

Also, tonite I was watching Rosen's Sports Sunday and they had a piece on the Chaska Cubs and the town ball experience.  Looked like a fun time and they interviewed fans and players at the park, I thought you'd be making a celebrity appearance speaking of the virtues of Stiftungsfest burger but to no avail.

Finally I'd like to take this moment to say thank you to the MN legislature for the pathetic fireworks they have legalized in MN (sparklers and girly fountains).  Seems quite brilliant to be giving the folks of Western WI our money and business for the REAL stuff when MN could be keeping the revenue in state.  I could be wrong, but I doubt it...

PS-If I call any posters tomorrow night please answer as it will be my one and only call from the clink...

Touchdown Tommy, sorry I missed the Twins game. Had to be comparable to watching the Johnnies play football - yet another rollover of the opponent. :D

As to the segment on the Chaska Cubs on Rosen's Sports Sunday, I think this probably was the piece they did last season. Believe it or not, I am featured in the promo. Myself and our local state representative, Joe Hoppe, who is also a Johnnie, led a group of kids onto the field after the game for the money scramble. The Cubs throw out about $60.00 in change on the baselines and let the kids race out to pick up as many coins as they can.

Speaking of Cubs baseball, all you MIAC fans, keep Friday night, July 21 open for MIAC night at the Chaska baseball park when the Cubs host Rochester. Game starts at 7:30 p.m. Where something with your MIAC college logo on it and get into the game free. Stiftungsfest burgers will be served. Be there or be square (or from Bethel) :P.

TDT,  We in western Wisconsin thank you for your business.  ;D

TDT,
Just be glad MN moved bar closing time back to 2 AM as well so we no longer have to go to WI for that.

JA and Duff,
Due to the nature of the hot sun Saturday and the plentiful beers and mixers consumed on the lake, I opted out of heading into Spicer and instead passed out on a couch at 9 PM while watching the Twins game. When I awoke at about 11, the bar crew had left and Mrs KR said I had enough for the day :-\

I will avenge my absence next trip to Spicer.
Now accepting new patients. All bills must be paid in scotch shortly after any services rendered.  Sorry TDT, no problems below the waist.

KR,  We still have that extra 1/2 hour of schweel time from 2-2:30AM.  ;)

Kilted Rat

For some reason the extra half hour from 2-2:30 isn't as important as the extra hour from 1-2.

Anyone else out there seen The Devil Wears Prada? Saw it yesterday. Quite the movie. Makes one appreciate a good work environment.

JR, you admit that in public??

KR, Whilst you were sleeping peacefully, I was there til the bitter end, ditto for last night, and again tonite-after 18 holes that is(Ahhhhh, the life of the teacher-you poor working stiffs!)   ;D  And I will join your quest to avenge that absence!

I guess the male friend (Doug) of Anne Hathaway's character is a Cobber.  Not sure if Meryl Streep let him wear his Concordia ring during filming though.  Perhaps you can confirm.  I've heard the movie isn't half bad and I'm sure my wife will drag me to it.

Has anyone seen 'A Prairie Home Companion'?  I've heard mixed reviews but yet to take it in myself.  'Cars' is a good flick for all ages.

If you go to imdb (internet movie data base) you'll see that the role of Doug in The Devil Wears Prada is Rich Sommer.  Further internet research confirms that he is a Cobber, class of '00.

Any MIAC teams playing out of conference games on the west coast this season?

Funny you should ask as I noticed over the weekend that Gustavus is playing at Willamette.

Shouldn't St. Olaf's play a game in Florida so their players' families can watch?

For those of you who haven't made it down Snelling Avenue in a while, the MAC FOOTBALL FIELD is coming along nicely.

Happy Fourth of July!

So how in the world does a Cobber end up in Hollywood and starring in a movie that is not devoted to country western music?

Don't let the Montana Mountain Men on the football roster sway public opinion - there are civilized people north of Collegeville.
