Important day in history:

On this day in 1535, Sir Thomas More was executed for treason, as a result of his refusal to recognize King Henry VIII as the head of the Church. He was convicted of high treason on July 1, 1535. Five days later, on this day in 1535, he was led to the scaffold on Tower Hill. His executioners asked him if he had any final words, and he took the time to say that he did not blame them for their actions and he looked forward to the day when they could all meet in heaven. With that, he was beheaded. His head was later displayed on the London Bridge, but his daughter retrieved it and it as buried with her.

JR - If you're a TM devotee, have you read A Man for All Seasons?  The movie with Schofield was very good but the play itself is better I think - almost as good as Robert Bolt's introduction to the play in which he explains what drew him, as a nonbeliever, to write about Sir Thomas.  If you have never read Bolt's intro, I'd highly recommend it.

If you can't ignore an insult, top it; if you can't top it, laugh it off; and if you can't laugh it off, it's probably deserved.

Howdy Strangers. Been away so long, I forgot what I'm supposed to do here. Ummm, let's see...Hamm's...(cough, cough)...chicks...(cough)...football...
Man, I'm rusty.

Fishing was fair. Setting was awesome.

See? Can't even post a damn picture.

Congrats to KR on blowing by me in the karma like I was standing still. Oh...I guess I was.

BDB

Welcome back Fins!

I bet the board 2 Hamm's to 1 that you would sneak off and find a PC somewhere during your vacation and make a post.

I had no takers.

And you didn't.

Lucky me.  ;)

DuffMan

Is this better, Fins?  Welcome back!  Where are some fish pictures?

A tradition unrivaled...

Thanks Duff!
And sorry BDB, even my MIACPP pals weren't worth the drive to the Falls.
It took me 2 days of twitching, but I did get over not being plugged in and eventually settled into a mellow Hamm's groove. Cell phones work sometimes on a 6 mile stretch of the highway, so I couldn't even be bothered by that.
OK, I'll try to post some fish photos, but I'm still a little rusty.

FinsIII with day 1 stringer of smallmouth...

And the prize winner...

Johnnie Red

tmerton, I did read the book. It was excellent. I should probably read it again.

Fins!
Welcome back! +1k to help you back to your spot as lead dog.

How was the north country? You didn't miss much here, just a minor maternal guilt trip (mom trying to run my life and the wife's as if it were her 2nd life)and lots of beer consumed on my part.

The Liquor store in Spicer did not have Hamm's the day that I was there. I lodged a formal complaint and left my name and phone number for the owner to call me when they get some. Damn girl working there didn't even know if Hamm's was a beer or a liquor >:(
Now accepting new patients. All bills must be paid in scotch shortly after any services rendered.  Sorry TDT, no problems below the waist.

Discovered by the Germans in 1904, they named it San Diego, which of course in German means a whale's vagina.

Congrats to KR on blowing by me in the karma like I was standing still.

We'll help out, but you should probably head over to the LLPP for a fill up.

I read that and was relieved to see that you came around to the conclusion that the answer to life's problems can usually be found at the bottom of a can.  ;)

I feel your pain. When I ran out of the Hamm's I brought, I had to settle for GB Premium from Jim's Ash Trail Store after giving him the what-for for not carrying Hamm's.
And ditto on the young clueless waitresses. I always ask for a Hamm's when I'm in a place that obviously won't have it. I just love it when they give me a puzzled look, spin around and say, "Just a minute, I'll go check."

Ha! Good idea, the LLPP Karma Circle Jerk is always in full swing!

But +k to KR who deserves the lead as my nominee for MIAC Poster of the Year.

Hey Everyone,
A little off topic but who would have thought that the twins winning streak would end to the Royals.  Not to mention they lost the series.  Hopefully they will get back to original form before the break and keep it going after it.  That's all I got.
