I'll be happy to accept your thanks, on behalf of the SF Giants organization, for taking AJ off your hands and providing you with Liriano and Nathan and (can't remember the third guy).  I do apologize for letting AJ get off to the Sox, but we couldn't be expected to put up with him for more than a year, could we?   :P

He must not have genuflected appropriately each time he passed by Barry's lockers

Genuflection isn't necessary - just don't sit in his arm chair.  (Our parish priest taught Barry when he was a freshman in high school and does an eye roll every time Barry's name is mentioned.)

#1 son was in Dallas this past week seeing his GF's parents (he assures me it is not a serious relationship - good thing as he should get a job first) and said he worked out at a nice health club.  In fact, he said he was working out in the weight room at the same time as "TO" (that new receiver the Cowboys picked up from the Eagles).  He said they were working with a lot of the same weights and doing the same routines, so I asked him if he spoke to TO.  "What should I have asked him - if he was going to do to the Cowboys what he did to the Niners and Eagles?"  I said that's exactly what I had in mind but conceded that the conversation probably would have gone downhill from there.

I stumbled in to www.aj-pierzynski.com.  :-[

Now I feel like I need a shower and then go to confession.  :P

Veek

Fins - nice having you back.  Tim Schmitz was a damn good back and may be the best back SJU ever had.  Rick Bell was another great back from years gone by.  We could go on and on and on about great backs, receivers, quarterbacks, lineman, defensive backs, etc., couldn't we?  It's always fun to reminisce about former SJU greats.
Go Johnnies!!!

Thanks Veek. Nice to be back.
Yes it is fun to talk about the old days, but it sure was fun to watch a guy like Schmitzie run. And it was funner to drink beer with him on Saturday night after a great game.
Some of his stats for you young bucks...

  • 1st and 2nd place in SJU history in Yards Rushing Per Game with 138.2 in '77 and 134 in '76 (3rd place is Lehman with 117.6 in '55)
  • 1st place in YRPG, Career with 106.3
  • Tied for 1st in Yards Per Carry, Season with 8.0 in '77[li]
And his 3,933 career yards will probably never be touched.

Looking forward to watching football in October in the afternoon, then the Twins in the ALCS in the evening. :)

I enjoyed watching sportscenter this morning as hearing the anchors say...these are the exact words...that it was a complete joke that Liriano was not selected to the AL all-star team.  I also think it's a joke that there has to be a representative from each team in the league.  Redman from KC is 6-5 with a 5+ ERA.  Liriano's 9-1 with a sub 2 ERA.  AJ should not be an all-star and I think you shouldn't have more than 4 or even 3 from each squad.  But when you are stacked with good players I guess that gotta play.  I know we would love to see Morneau at the all-star game, but the guys that beat him out are pretty good and have great numbers so far.  One last thing...I love having Mauer on my fantasy team.  That's all I got.

I found Duff's MySpace site.   ;D

TMerton, what are you doing on MySpace?  Are we going to see you on a Dateline Expose soon?

Duff - I just googled "johnnie football" and then searched the results for obvious leads back to the MIAC board, and there it was.  I notice there's no denial here ...  Our very own Johnnie Football Hero.  ::)

I'm desparate for football to start.

Kilted Rat

For years I have heard my buddies rant and rave about Camel Toes.

I guess I just don't get it?

Now accepting new patients. All bills must be paid in scotch shortly after any services rendered.  Sorry TDT, no problems below the waist.

Discovered by the Germans in 1904, they named it San Diego, which of course in German means a whale's vagina.

Willy Wonka

I just got to type "St. John's 0-9" for my job tonight. Forget for a minute that it was for church league softball standings...it made me extremely pleased.

The prospect of such a feat ever coming to fruition brings a smile to Wonka's face — at the office with about 5 hours left in my shift, not an easy thing to do.

PS - If you guys want to get TDT riled up, ask him how his fantasy baseball team is doing in relation to mine. Works like a charm every time.
I don't hate Duke. I just hate all their players, coaches and fans.

In case anybody's been wondering what KR's been up to during those long, boring days in Des Moines:

Let this be a lesson to those who think Boof and Brad are good names for starting pitchers.

What do you think happened there, anyway?  ???

Mr. and Mrs. Bonsor are sitting around with their brand new baby boy trying to come up with a name.

The family mutt lets out a "boof" at the mailman and they look at each other like "that's it!"

Lucky for Boof that he didn't end up being named growl, bark or yip.

I think, anyway.   :D

Was checking out some of the left coast teams and came across Linfield's roster.  They have 14 coaches (and that's without Locey)!!! :o :o  Even D-1 has limits on the number of coaches - does D3 have no limits?  It'll take 2 of the junior coachs to run out for coffee for the others - and that's carrying a 4 pack in each hand.

Who's got the largest coaching staff in the MIAC?  Or are there conference limits?
