Well, it's been fun folks, but this is the end. It's been a wild ride.

Speedy Delivery, Mr. McFeely (that name always bothered me...especially on a kids show as wholesome as Mister Rogers). At least he wasn't called Uncle McFeely!

April Snowstorm Impacts SJU's Weekend Events

EDIT: The wife and I got married on April 11, 1992 and she just reminded me that it was a blizzard that day as well in St Cloud.  I had forgotten.  I guess trauma can force bad memories to the deep subconscious.

MUC,
You have it correct but look closely - you have them out of order.

So I know this has been written about earlier but I think I missed it or just lost track of the whole affair. In order to change the bylaws the vote needs to be 9-3 in favor and U$T does not get a vote? As a member of the conference I don't understand why they don't a get to cast one...please don't get the idea that I'm defending them.

Is there any kind of pick'em pool as to how the vote might go down? I doubt the conference will release the results but after the dust settles I'm sure information will leak out how each school voted...but maybe not.

Here's my guess on amending the bylaws to limit enrollment thereby kicking U$T corner of Cretin and Summit Avenues to peddle for games.

Yes:
Augsburg
Carleton
Hamline
Macalester
St. Kate's
St. Olaf

No:
Bethel
Concordia
GAC
CSB
SJU
St. Mary's

I've lost track of the number of snow / cold days schools have had this winter / spring. This hasn't just been rural Minnesota...the big schools have had at least 5-6 days. Yesterday, April 11th I was running the snowblower around 2:30 pm when I saw this flash of light. For a moment I thought it was Saint Peter...then I heard the thunder...almost sharted myself!

I believe that UST gets a vote on the bylaw change (2/3's required, so 9 of 13) but not the expulsion vote (3/4's required so 9 of 12 eligible voters to pass, UST being the 13th member in this case).  It just so happens that it's nine each time but UST get's a vote in one.

I think the question of what type of school is St. Thomas is crucial for the Tommies and the MIAC.  UST has become a regional university.  Other schools in the MIAC are moving in that direction.  I think the schools within the MIAC have to decide whether the conference will focus on liberal arts colleges or transition to universities.  That will play a huge role.  I am guessing certain schools have contingency plans regarding the outcome of the votes, and some may have told others their intentions based on the vote.

Removing St. Thomas:
St. Olaf
Mac
Carleton
GAC
Concordia - does whatever it can to save the MIAC
Hamline
St. Kate's

Keeping St Thomas:
SJU
CSB
Bethel

Wild card:
St. Mary's
Augsburg

Why hasn't anyone from SJU dubbed this UST Deleted?

Because its a Bylaw vote and not an expulsion/removal vote, the full membership will be voting....the Presidents will be trying to create the optics that no one school was targeted with the proposed change (complete BS)....in terms of the No group-add UST....while I would guess that two names listed there will be in the Yes group.....leaving the vote 8-5 in my guess, thus this effort fails...hopefully.

One last point I'd like to make....the schools, administrators, coaches, players, fans and media types that have characterized Glenn Caruso as some Darth Vader like evil coach are being completely disingenuous....most of which have never met him.  The guy can flat out coach and has done amazing job at a school that hadn't been on top of the MIAC for nearly 20 years prior to his arrival.  He has upgraded the quality of play in this conference and that has pissed off the half of MIAC that will fight like warriors to protect the mediocrity that those schools crave and aspire to.  Militant Mediocrity is how this group rolls.
