People who drink a lot of beer, like college students, care about price. There's a reason all these college guys are hauling around 30 packs of Busch Light and it isn't for the taste. It's cheap. Price sells. Back in my college days it was Olympia Beer. Yuck!

Yep, for us in Western NY in the 70's, it was Pabst and Colt 45. Swill.

Plus, as Archie Bunker famously quipped as he backed away from the urinal, "You can't buy beer, you can only rent it."

What sort of consumers are still buying all these big-brewery lagers?

As someone who has his name on 5 Class A and multiple Class B liquor licenses in the beer capital state of Wisconsin, let me clarify.

Truth. But I'm more than willing to shell out some cash for a good brew, especially when it's something I can't get often. Got a nice glass of Boulevard Bourbon Barrel Quad on tap the other night. SO good. SO worth it.

In my teen years, we would sneak some out of the beer fridge in the basement - worked for what we wanted - get a buzz.

Today living in West Michigan - surrounded by micro-breweries.  Prefer New Holland (which is 4 miles from my house). Dragons Milk (stout) is my favorite

Never seen this before but it's pretty cool.

College Football Imperialism Map

Here's a brief summary of how the map progresses throughout the season:

QuoteAt the beginning of the season, each US county is awarded to the closest college football team. If it is not obvious, the distance is calculated from the center of the team's stadium to the center of the county using the US Census Bureau data. Then during the season, teams that lose games give all their land to the team that beats them. My map just shows what the starting counties should be for each team.

Dragon's Milk is one of my favorites. Excellent, especially on tap!

Headed there (NHB) for dinner tonight with my son and his wife.  The new Dragon's Milk White is an interesting "lighter" version and most likely my choice for this evening.

The MIAC board is my go-to source for learning useful tidbits. I appreciated Gregory's beer educational.
I'm one that just can't justify the self-sacrifice required to become an IPA fan. I remember my old boss in 1990 put me through the "acquire a taste" protocol for single malt scotch- I'm glad he did.
But when it comes to beer, I prefer it very cold, which means I can't nurse it too long. Miller and Coors Lite are my outdoor go-to beers. 12 oz, not the tall cans.
I do love a Dunkel- when I can find a Dunkel Lager from Weltenberg, I'm all in.

Pretty much stopped drinking beer in January and just drink bourbon instead, now. Lost 25lbs.

Didn't really miss it until the first 85 degree day of the year on the golf course. So i amended my policy to only a 6 pack per 9 holes.

What's your go to bourbon? I'm a Woodford and Angel's Envy guy personally.

EDIT: It's nice to have the board return to its normal summer topics after this spring :-)

Mr.MIAC

I'll bridge beer, food, and football. UST will have to grow the fanbase if it goes DI. Most DI fans seem to appreciate the traditional tailgating experience, which includes lots of open-flame food prep and BYOB drinking. Do you think UST will finally allow this sort of thing on campus if it goes DI?
