I want to say thanks Pat, but then I think of all the lost productivity this website and these boards are responsible for. I'd rather shift that blame onto Pat than shoulder it myself.

Coolers have become a status symbol.  Unless you're big game hunting in the wilderness and need to keep supplies cold for extended periods, I find regular coolers more than sufficient, if you know what you're doing.  Put your food/beverages in cold (i.e. don't put warm beer in a cooler), use ice blocks instead of cubes, and only open as much as necessary.  I do this regularly and routinely have ice left at the end of 4 day trips.

I have a friend who works at Pelican and can get them at cost, and I still haven't bought one.  My SIL has one, and it must weigh about 70 lbs empty.  Totally unnecessary for a weekend's beer.

I've been in the Big Horn and Glacier for the last 10 days. As much as I have mocked the necessity of Yetis, I did get one recently for my birthday and it lived up to the hype. I don't have a 5th wheel or anything, so my family roughs it mostly, so I am pleased to report that not only did it preserve my meat for 10 days without having to replace the ice everyday, it's also bear proof, which could have been a problem in Montana. My Coleman would not be able to keep my meat cold while simultaneously frustrating bears. That said, if you're just bringing some beer to a lake, don't bother.

Stayed in a decommissioned ranger station/fire lookout on top of Sheep Mountain in the Bighorn for one night. That was one day I didn't really need a cooler as it got down to about 28 degrees (although it was also 75 degrees during the day), we even got some snow, briefly.

Been off the grid for the past couple of weeks celebrating 35 years with the finest lady around, but I'm partial. We circumnavigated 4 of the great lakes, spending time in Niagara Falls, Toronto (a week), Sault Ste. Marie, and Thunder Bay. MUC57 - we waved going through Northern Ohio - which still has the most State Patrolmen per mile than anywhere else, on this trip, at least. Sunset was 9:57 pm in Thunder Bay - weird.

I, too, want to say Thank-you to Pat, Keith, and crew for 20 years of D3 Football! I found the site in 2010 when Bethel made it all the way to the semi finals, losing to Mount Union. Finally signed up in 2012.
