Out of curiousity, I just took a peak at available tickets for the Johnnie/Tommy game at Allianz.  $120 -$720 per ticket--who the hell is spending that for a D3 game?

Yeah, seriously. I was going to try to attend since I've never been to Johnnie/Tommie before and wanted to take one in before it's over. But there's no way I'm shelling out that kind of money.

I'm already blocking out November 7, 2020 out on my calendar. If the D1 transition rumblings are as true as they seem right now, it's most fitting to end the rivalry in Collegeville.

What a crock of doo-doo - Bethel beat both the Tommies and North Central last year, and are ranked lower than both of them? Seriously? Maybe they know something we don't, but I think the 25 voters have collectively lost their minds and/or have very short attention spans. And who on this planet gives Mount a number 1 vote? (Sorry Muc57.) I would have thought the Johnnies would have been in single digits difference because of the way they played in week 14 last year, compared to the showing the Purple Raiders put on in week 15.

I personally would NOT give Mount a no. 1 vote either. You're No. 1 until someone  beats you.
Mount did only lose by one score, same as St. John's though. Go Everbody!  ::)

I don't have the numbers in front of me but Bethel lost a ton of guys on defense, and the history is that Bethel does not follow up these 11- and 12-win seasons with another one, so I can see where Royals at 10 is actually pretty high.

Past performance does not guarantee future returns - something along those lines. Pat, I grant you BU lost some in D, but I think the O is going to light up the other side of the ball and make for a lot of higher scoring games this year. It could be a very interesting game up in Collegeville this year.

New year, new teams, new rankings.  Plus it's not where you start, it's where you finish.  Tip of the cap to D3football.com for providing excellent bulletin board material for the Royals.

No, it sure doesn't, but the argument for Bethel being ranked higher than St. Thomas is based on ... past performance.

Mr.MIAC

Speaking of the Tommie/Johnnie game, is anybody interested in doing a Post Patterns pre-game at some nearby pub? Looks like it will the last opportunity for such an event in St. Paul.

I'm down.

Coach Johnson is a wise man. He puts together a nationally recognized season every 3-4 years, allowing each class to get their fair shake of success, then sandbags for a few. All the while, he avoids the ire and microscope of evil Anderson's C.O.L. The only flaw is that when SJU gets booted a couple years after UST, we  Coach J is really going to have to up the ante on the sandbagging.

I haven't been here for quite a while and was pulled back to see what people thought about the pre-season rankings. But the first post I see is a Tommie still crying. Very funny.
