But Parks did transfer to Bethel  ;)  8-)

That's a shame, but I'm not too worried. Kid never could do much at Bethel anyway.

+K Jamto - that's funny!  :D

You just reminded me that I probably ought to get around to updating my nickname on here. It's an acronym for the members of my family and baby D was born last July so I should probably be jamtod to match with my Twitter and other football forum nick.

After spending some time in Kickoff!, I can see how the pundits put Bethel where they did in the pre-season poll. Context is everything.

My pre-season prognostications concerning the MIAC in general, and Bethel in particular are as follows.

Bethel should be 4 and 0 when they head up to Collegeville on October 12, as should the Johnnies. Hopefully, in those four weeks the Bethel D will have jelled by then and the Royals can give them a run for their money. I am really hopeful that Bethel can trade the lead and stay close. I know not everyone else on this board is thinking this way.  :D

Then the next week is the Johnnie-Tommy game, and at least one pundit has the Tommies going back to the Stagg Bowl and winning the Walnut and Bronze, so this could be another game for the ages.

Finally, Bethel drives down Snelling on the last day of conference games to take on the Tommies.

If the hype around St. John's and St. Thomas this year are to believed, then Bethel doesn't stand a chance. I think many on this board know that to be the best, you have to beat the best. I, for one, am hopeful that Coach Johnson can out together back to back seasons and get back to the playoffs this year.

From where I sit now, these are the three games that will determine the 2019 season. At least for these three teams.

U$T has to get by SJU, Bethel, and GAC first.  ::)

Kickoff is a good get for any Johnnie fan.  A great article titled "What do the Johnnies have for an encore?"  Without spoiling the read, the J's have high hopes and a lot of confidence.  Gonna be good, maybe great this year.

Conference rankings as well.  The MIAC was robbed, although the conference run-down is pretty good.

Only one staff member picks the Johnnies to make the Stagg.  I won't spoil it by saying who it is but he deserves a pat on the back for his wisdom.

Who are the Johnnies? Is that some DIII football team in MN? Never heard of them. I hear there'll be a new DI program in MN, though. Now that's something to talk about...

And will that new DI program also resort to "flash sale" gimmicks to put asses in the seats?

Maybe I'm wrong, but I think the Reverend MIAC should be careful on his word choice. As I recall, St. John's has four (4) National Championships, St. Thomas has zero (0). Go Johnnies!  ::)  ;D

I think that even if that new DI program gave away tickets they'd struggle to put 1K butts into seats.  :o

Seriously, though, I will be astounded if the NCAA magically grants U$T a "waiver" to move directly from DIII to DI.

Wonder how many U$T and future Pioneer League fans will be heading over to Target Field on Aug. 31st to see NDSU destroy Butler?
Nosebleed tix are going for about $30. I'll be "Home Alone" all weekend so I'm considering taking the light rail over to see if I can score a cheap ticket.

"Kickoff 2019" is set to be released today! Anxiously waiting to see it posted on d3football.com!

I suppose I should pay the piper and get my subscription setup.

me too.

I'm ready for that sweet sweet D3 insider drama.

**please please please tell me Roste and Erdmann decided not to show up for camp**

They both showed up.

Ha! Nicely played.

UST is a bit of an enigma to me this year ...

When was the last time they had so little juice and expectation at QB coming into a season? Usually they have a stud returning starter or some stud transfers set to fight for the spot. Combine that with huge question marks on D, it'll be interesting. A huge piece in their favor is they have two coast games to start the season and break in a new D and QB. But I think UWEC will actually be improved this year and could prove a test.

I think they come into Bethel with two losses (SJU & one TBD), but will be a much improved team at that point.

Bethel's non-con slate should be a solid test. Simpson has an experienced secondary and is well coached and UWRF at first glance looks like a typical mid-tier WIAC team.

Gotta love that the field graphic over at Vivid Seats still shows the St Thomas and St Johns sidelines (and how the heck has it been two years already??)

I've watched a lot of Pioneer League football over the years and UST in its current form would be very competitive with the likes of Butler, Dayton and Drake

Curious to see how J.W. Windsor pans out for the Johnnies.  They've got some big shoes to fill on the defensive front.  Windsor's been around the block--I'm always a bit nervous with a situation like his.

Hey, Rev.,  I'm surprised you haven't already changed your handle.  After all, the MIAC thinks your team is unworthy to associate with.
