QuotePat's take: No. 10 Bethel. It would be unethical of me to say more.

Not sure if the implication is that he has some insider information about Bethel or if I'm missing a joke?

I'm officially calling BS. The only thing unethical about this take and quote is Pat and his Bethel bias. There's a longstanding beef that Pat has with Bethel and the coaching staff. He's petty with this and this post is Exhibit A. Bethel might to lose to Simpson, but it will only be because of what happens on Saturday, not due to anything looming in the athletic department or program.

Again, there is NOTHING to this. No suspensions, no injuries, nada. I don't know what the issue is, but it's just irresponsible journalism to put out a vague statement like this. It's so widely open for interpretation. Just look at the board here, people immediately wondering if something unethical was done by Bethel or it's coaches. Or if there's some player suspended or injured. When NONE of that is the case. And then doubling down on "ask anyone in the athletic department." I'll do you one better, no on in the football program knows what he's talking about.

If you want to pick against Bethel, go for it. But don't make stuff up that is full of innuendo. When did Pat start working for TMZ?!? Leave the unsubstantiated rumors and bias at home. Report the news, don't make up the news or insert yourself into the story.

+k for a great rant.
I can't make any judgments about it's accuracy, but I enjoyed reading it.

Hey there -- it doesn't have anything to do with depth chart or injuries or anything like that. You guys on this board have invented that all by yourselves.

I do know the football staff -- or at least the right members of the football staff -- knows about the actions of Bethel athletics and administration to which I refer, though.

I am *definitely* not aware of any long-standing beef that I have with the coaching staff, however. That's pretty funny.

I guess I'd like to trust the staff of d3football.com to report what's actually news, not just innuendo about who knows what, with suggestions that we contact the Bethel athletics department. If that's all there is to it and not an actual football reason why Bethel might lose, I would think the proper journalistic thing to do would be not to comment on it. But I'm no expert, just a dumb banker.

Pat Coleman

I might quibble as to whether a talking-heads game prediction post is reporting, but I definitely see your point and will bear that in mind.

It's minor on it's own, but there is a reference to something vague which breeds speculation. You can't be surprised that folks are wondering if there is injuries, suspensions, etc. Further comments on it without actual clarity don't really help either, from my perspective.

My hmmmm is left hanging...  and it's now worse than before, because my mind races to all the awful things it could be referring to.

I'm hoping it's nothing too negative.  Maybe Bethel has seen how the Northwestern Volleyball team makes "honor calls" where they admit when they hit a ball out of bounds rather than pretending to the ref that it just missed them, so Bethel has decided to start admitting when they use the ground to catch the ball or when they steal a fumble from an opposing player in the pile who had possession and was down.

That's my take as well.  You can debate whether it's reporting or not, but the fact is that it was in a posted article on what is really the only source for D3 football news, so of course tossing a hand grenade like that is going to send people scrambling when it lands, so your statement of seemingly being surprised -

" it doesn't have anything to do with depth chart or injuries or anything like that. You guys on this board have invented that all by yourselves"

- when discussion goes in that direction is either disingenuous, or perhaps you just didn't think for more than half a second before you put that in the article.

Further statements that allude to you knowing something about BU athletics, but not being willing (or able) to share those details, doesn't come off well for the guy who is supposed to be the voice of reason on the site.  If you know something but can't say anything about it, don't say anything at all, rather than going with "I know something you don't know!".

Feels petty.

If this is about me not chiming into the conversation about this to squash that line of speculation earlier -- guilty. I do not check the message board nearly as often as I used to.

This is total speculation on my part but I believe it has to do with nutrition. I've heard from my cousin's son's father inlaw that in a very narrow vote the team voted to go Vegan. Fatigue will definitely play a factor for the Royals  ::)
