Excuses for not winning by enough. Lame.
Stout played a good game! The Johnnies didn't struggle ina "vacuum", they struggled because they were playing a good team. Give credit where credit is due!

This morning's question has to be, how far down in the D3 Top 25 do the Johnnies drop? Will they stay above both the Tommies and the Royals, split them, or fall below both of them?

I'd keep them where they are. Can't read too much into a narrow road win against a tough WIAC school, along with whatever early season rust and jitters factored in. I'm hopeful that this is a sign of weakness for the Johns but not pinning my hat on that idea.
As opposed to playing a crap NAIA school which doesn't tell me a ton about UST

I'd keep SJU where they are too. Week 1 is weird. Solid opponent on the road.

Mr.MIAC

I hope SJ2 drops down 5-7 places. The Johnnie Smokefest is annoying but tolerable when SJ2's hovering inside the T10. The Smokefest becomes unbearable (note all the complaining over winning this week) when SJ2's inside the T5.

Nah, even though UWW won big, winning on the road in a hostile environment with a target on your back is a still  a decent win. Looks to me like the top 7 remain in place.

Early season polls are worthless, and you don't drop a team for a win unless there were some pretty surprising wins below them.

Spent a perfect football day in LaCrosse yesterday watching a very big, fast Eagle defense stymie the Cobbers most of the afternoon. Gotta credit the Concordia D for really rising to the need and keeping it close. An overtime loss at UW-LaCrosse is not an embarrassment, but the Cobbers had a late rush of fortune (blocked punt leading to a last minute of regulation touchdown) that could have led to an OT victory. With UW-Whitewater next week, well, that's a brutal non-conference 1-2 punch. Hopefully the Cobbs will figure out how to not fumble the bread and butter pitchout before then and repeat as victors over WW.

I've said it before and I'll no-doubt say it again, but I cannot handle PJ Fleck.

There is a certain something about him that makes me urp a bit...but as long as they win and bring some respectability to the program, I can put up with him. Fresno State is actually a pretty good team, and the Gophs managed to put them away despite every imaginable ill-timed turnover or penalty.

I flicked to the Cobber game after the Johnnies had finished and saw that fumbled pitch.  The cobbers must run that play or similar 200 times a season.  It's a shame because that's the last spot you would expect the Cobbs to trip up.

Good luck against UWW.  A good D can go places.

That fumbled pitch in OT was not a lone occurrence. It was, I believe, the 5th fumbled pitchout and the 3rd one turned over. That piece of the option clearly needs a fix, as it is so crucial to the whole offense. I can't imagine U-WW defense will be more forgiving.

I'll second that.

Although, I'll take him over Tim Brewster for whatever that's worth.
