Back from a great trip to MN dropping of my oldest.
Wonderful state, town, and college.  Can't wait to get up in October for the Augsburg game.
Northfield is a pretty college town with the Cannon River still influential in the milling industry. Sprinkle in some Jesse James and you have a unique history.
As of now they're on DOUBLE SECRET Probation!

Just found out that this kid is the son of one of my co-workers who manages one of our farms in Oregon. I didn't make the connection when it was mentioned earlier here.

Beautiful college town. Floods looming on the Cannon right now. We stopped in last summer. Mrs. Repete is a Heywood and related to the bank teller who was shot and killed, but protected much of the bank's cash. BTW, we stayed at new Courtyard which was not only convenient to the schools and DT, but had a great patio overlooking the Cannon for the breakfast in the a.m. and drinks in the p.m.

The small positive is he plays in a position where he can play with a club on his hand.

Agreed.  We'll see how this plays out.  Hell, Brinker played a season with torn ACLs in both knees!!!

Pretty darn effective with those two torn acl's too. Remarkable!

A bye weeks makes for a quiet week for the Johnnies but there's still some cool football news. Near the end of the summer the SJU J-Club announced our first full class for the Hall of Honor. 12 individuals and 1 team will join charter members John Gagliardi and Jim Smith.

Among the inductees are 4 with football connections.
- John "Blood" McNally '24 - Charter member of the Pro Football Hall of Fame
- John McDowell '64 - 2x All-American and NFL career
- Blake Elliott '03 - 2003 national champion and Gagliardi Trophy recipient
- 1963 national champion football team - defeated Prairie View A&M 33-27

A banquet will be held the night of Homecoming, Oct 5th. There is a cost but it includes dinner, drinks and short program with all proceeds benefiting the J-Club and Johnnie athletics. Additional bio information and registration link here, https://gojohnnies.com/news/2019/8/6/general-sju-to-induct-13-into-j-club-hall-of-honor-oct-5.aspx.

There's a lot of catching up to do for honoring over 100 years of athletics. This should be a great night to honor our inaugural class and I'm hoping you Johnnie posters and lurkers can join us.

Stats are what they are. Cobbers are undefeated all-time versus Wisconsin-WW in games played in odd numbered years.

It really is a beautiful town. Had a nice chat with Coach Journell this afternoon at Laird Stadium.  He is a class act. He is very bullish on the opportunity he has to turn around the Carleton program. He firmly believes in the school and the academic opportunity it affords.  I wish him well.  He's a good guy.

Great idea, Wally!  Love it!  That is similar to those T-shirts at schools who have dropped football years ago printing T-shirts that say...x college/university football, Undefeated since 19---what ever the year! :)

SJUrube:

Certainly will be a great event.  Who are the other inductees?  There is one person, who is an alum, former SJU athlete, huge supporter and contributor over recent years to SJU athletics, who, IMO, should be on that list.

WCCO story on Munoz getting surprised with making the AFCA All State Good Works Team. 7th year in a row for Bethel to have a player named, 13 all time, trailing only Georgia, Nebraska, and Kentucky. Big deal since I'm pretty sure FBS gets a disproportionate number of players on the team (11 of the 22 I think, with the final 11 divided between the other divisions).

The MIAC has a really cool history of representation with this award.

Not a lot of chatter this week.  I'll be interested to see how the GAC/Stout game plays out.  I think Stout will win, but it will hopefully tell us something about GAC.  The UWW/Cobber game will be interesting, too.

Stout beats Gustie 21-14

Having withdrawals from Johnnie football, but at least the Iowa/Iowa St game is today with GameDay broadcasting from Lames! Matt Campbell, the Clowns head coach, played for Larry Kehres at Mount Union &, I believe, was an assistant for a little while. Will be keeping an eye on the Stout/Gustavus & Whitewater/Concordia-Moorhead games. Hope everyone enjoys another college football Saturday!

Mr.MIAC

So UST has a bye week. What's the MIAC game to watch? Will I have to pay for it?
