On the downside, the new combination of liberalities has attracted a whole new type of recruit to the squad.  So perhaps BU is a wash.

If you are looking for a good laugh or a dose of schadenfreude, I highly recommend reading the comments on some of the MLS sites about the upcoming Tommie Johnnie game, the day before the United host a playoff game and just a couple weeks after a full sod replacement:

Inject the angst right into my veins folks.

With MLS playoffs a day after Tommie Johnnie, I wonder if we will be seeing painted end zones with team logos and colors. I'm no expert on turf and if that paint can come off quickly. The soccer purists will probably be losing their mind seeing hash marks and purple and red on their field for their first playoff game. The venue should be perfectly sized for this event though. Viewing will be much better than Target Field.

I think they will also need to add a temporary play clock and game clock on one end of the stadium because they run a manual one on the non video board end for soccer.

BU worries me this weekend.  They have developed high levels of cardio of the last few years due to new, crazy training techniques they have adopted.

This put a smile on my face - it's sooooooo absurd, it's hilarious.

I have to check in on your board on a daily basis for my stress relief/sanity check!  You guys are hilarious! Love the levity in between all the serious posts.  Thanks!  Good luck this weekend to your teams before the "big game" next week.  We have our "big one" this Saturday at Homecoming vs. Albion. Although it might be too early to speculate on this, the game could potentially be the one that determines the MIAA title, although still a ways to go and depending on how a couple of the other teams do (Olivet and any one loss teams being spoilers.)

I don't think he got it, jamtod.

I'm monitoring my -k to see if the Johnnies get it, too.

This is why we need you here, Pat. You bring that unbiased editorial conscience for us all.

(Except when you are covering Mount Union, of course.)

Or when picking against BU in the top 10 team most likely to lose for secret-squirrel reasons.

I'd have no complaints about them being the pick again this week.

Actually, I did get it. ;D :P  It's just that I'm such a nice guy, duh!. ;)

Pat, indeed, you are a hard grader! But, as was mentioned, we need that, just like the kindes and 1st graders that my oldest daughter teaches! ;)

The BU v Johnnies games notes are out.  Getting hyped.  They are always a good read and here's an interesting bit of info I should have known and have either forgotten or never knew.

Quote
FAMILIAR FOES
Following 17 years as an assistant to John Gagliardi, SJU head coach Gary Faschingis certainly familiar with Bethel head coach Steve Johnson, but the familiarity goes back even further. Fasching assisted Johnson while he was the head coach at St. Cloud Cathedral High School from 1982-85. Johnson taught physical education, while Fasching taught social studies. Fasching later replaced Johnson as head coach in 1986 after he left Cathedral to be a graduate assistant coach at the University of Minnesota. Johnson spent one year with the Gophers and two more at Montana State before taking over at Bethel in 1989. Fasching, meanwhile, led the Crusaders to the State Class B title in 1992 and 1993 and collected a 57-46 career record over 10 seasons from 1986-95, the most wins and longest tenure in school history.
