Fruit cake?  Big thumbs up from me.
Absolutely! My mother made it from scratch the day after Thanksgiving, wrapped it in cheesecloth and stored  it in our summer kitchen/pantry. Once a week until Christmas it was my job to pour brandy on some and wine on others. I might have made sure neither was spoiled.  :)
Most store bought is bad but Mrs. orders some that is pretty good.

Must have poured some in yourself since your certainly haven't gone bad...
Today I think it is called Quality Control.

Growing up in Western New York near Jamestown, all the little villages that had "Gala Days" or the county fairs had booths with "Candied Apples", which I've come to find out, must be a regional thing, because I cannot find them anywhere in all the little village hooplas, or county fairs in MN, WI and IA over the last 40 years of living in the area. The apples are dipped in a hard sugary based coating that has hot cinnamon added, and the red glaze is crunchy/crackly, not soft and gooey like a caramel apple - which is all I have ever been able to find in the mid-west.

Anybody on this board have one? The hot cinnamon really sets off the tartness of the apple and it was heaven on a stick, as a teenager.

Mount Union overtook UMHB for the #1 spot. Whitewater & St John's remain 3rd & 4th. Bethel at #9 & St Thomas falls one spot to #19.

We had candy apples made with red hots in Wisconsn when I was a lad. We did not have caramel apples.

With 2 losses, U$T will need more than some huge wins to make playoffs.  It ain't gonna happen. Though, they're undoubtedly better than many teams that will make the bracket.

Took a quick scroll through conference standings for the West region. If UST wins out they'll be 1 of many 2 loss confernence runner ups. If the West is going to get an at large team I think it will be the MIAC runner up (Bethel or UST) unless UWW has a slip up and finishes as a 1 loss runner up.

This is far from a scientific analysis, and doesn't account for at large candidates from around the country, but a UST win over Bethel would give a marquee program a signature win over a highly ranked national and regional opponent.

I don't think UST is balanced enough on offense though to pull off that upset.

I'm wrong. If UW-Plat wins out they'll be a 1 loss runner up and getting an at large. Should they lose to UW-Osh that opens the door for UST - at least of the West teams.

Candied apples are huge in Australia and I never had one until I got here.  Maybe they are an English thing and stayed popular on the east coast.

We had caramel apples when I was a kid which we don't have here.

Does Mrs.57 order via the inter webs? A good fruit cake/rum cake is hard to find.

Figis - Grandma's Fruitcake with 80proof each bourbon, dark rum and brandy. Comes in a loaf, not round. Rather heavy. Rich and a little goes a long way.
They have a large selection of farm, rum, fruit and nut cakes. We have only tried the one listed.
I have heard some Trappist Monastery makes a good fruitcake.

I'm still perplexed by STO's defensive scheme.  Funny to watch their dline just sit there and avoid contact.  Obviously, their plan didn't work too well, giving up over 700 yards.  ???

Oh well.  On to the Cobbers.

The thought process of dropping 9 into coverage and bassically double covering everyone in the pattern may work some of the time but not this time.

Will be interesting to see what Horan & crew cook up. Even in down years it seems the Cobbers can come up with something to give the Jays fits.

It sure leaves a lot of other stuff open.  And I'd think you'd want to prevent big pass plays, which also didn't happen.  I'm not one for gimmicky defense.

Agreed.  I'm not overly concerned with their antiquated offense, but they're usually a solid defensive team.
