Talk about miracle catches. Dartmouth vs. Harvard. Example No. 1 of don't try to intercept a Hail Mary, just knock the stupid thing down.

It did-but was fun to speculate on where sju would be seeded instead of wonder when to turn in the gear.

so all the chatter and angst concerning whether SJ2 deserves a #1 regional seed or mot has proved to be a tad premature  ;D

You are correct, it was premature.  The Tommies did much better in resisting discussion about where they would be ranked in the post season... :o

Yeah if Johnnies beat Hamline they're in. Even if they'd lose the last nonconference game of the year. Should be able to beat the Pipers. Provided it doesn't come down to a PAT.

One SJU loss and suddenly there is even an inkling of doubt surrounding the Hamline game?? That will not come down to a PAT, and I think the Johnnies will have many opportunities to attempt PATs.

While I agree there shouldn't be any doubts about SJ2's chances vs Hamline, I don't think anyone expected SJ2 to lose to a team UST throttled by 55. Just imagine -- should Hamline pull  off the hugest of upsets and beat the John's, there'd be NO postseason in Collegeville (or on the road for the Js).  it won't play out that way, but for the next 7 days I am pulling for some Piper Magic!

Having just watched Hamline in person ... not gonna happen. They managed 11 yds today. Playing Bethel's subs the entire second half. Concordia has given UWL, GAC, and UWW good games prior to today. Hamline will be totally and utterly overmatched by a pissed  SJU. Triple stompout coming

Don't get me wrong. Cobbers came to play and the Johnnies clearly did not. But, I put this one primarily on the coaching staff.

WHY ARE WE KICKING AT ALL?!

The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results.
Scrap the XP/FG game and go for two every time. They've got to be able to convert 1/3 of their 2-pt attempts.

Anyone feel like going back through our games to determine how many PATs/FGs we've made missed? Our inept kicking game not only cost us the game, but a game or two potentially at home in the playoffs! It's unfortunate that with the way the playoff system is structured in Division III, that teams like Bethel & UST get left out (as has St John's in seasons past) because of all of the AQs. Many of those conference winners would get throttled by the second, third, or fourth MIAC/WIAC finishers. I have to think we looked past the Cobbers which there's no excuse for!

Good teams win, great teams cover.  Hamline covered.

Hazz,
Hazzn't (sorry) Bethel had years where they just went for two or am I just imagining that? Or several games like that? Again, maybe I'm just making that up. But if they did, how'd it work?

I wouldn't have blamed Fasching if he did that but if that happened I would have loved to be sitting near the Concordia dad who had angry words when UST went for 2 on our second touchdown.

Mr.MIAC

So if we beat Gustavus and Bethel, and SJ2 loses to Hamline, we take the MIAC. Is that right? Let's say we beat Gustavus and Bethel, and SJ2 manages to beat Hamline. What are the chances UST makes the playoffs?

Not great.  That Eau Claire loss is haunting as a common opponent result with other two loss West teams UWL and UWP.

Ironically, without even trying,  SJ2 just sealed the fate of the Tommies, even if they were to win out.

I see on social media (twitter) SJU fans are making a big deal of the non facemask call.
I saw a good pic of it...wow, that was a bad missed call.

Judging by the pic it looked close to the goal line. Was that on a fourth down play or something?
