I wonder if the NY Jets will petition to join the MIAC--- they could hold their own vs  the lower echelon & Mac. But i do think my Fins can lose out and still get #1 draft pick. Toms, Wolves & Dolphins win, Vikes & Johns lose... damn Wild ruined a perfect weekend for me.

Does anyone seriously think the Gophers will stay within 18 of Penn State?

Goph's will hold strong. May not win, but I see them covering. Penn State offense has one player to key on and the Gopher run game and dynamic receivers should find the end zone at least twice.

SUMMIT!!!!!

Sports Illustrated subscribers--- does the picture of a California HS field on pages 64-65 of the Nov 4 issue look eerily like Clemens Stadium?  Also, nice to see UWEC head coach Wesley Beschorner featured in the update section of Faces in the Crowd...  maybe that explains UST's loss to the BluGolds?

I think the Gophers are in real danger of getting monkeystomped but no worse.  PSU's offense is not a mega-dangerous outfit but their D is pretty good.  If the Gophers can score a bit and put PSU on the back foot then I think they have a chance of upsetting things.  Plus the game is a MN home game so that helps as well.  A high-scoring affair gives MN a chance.

I wouldn't put money on the Gophers but I would allow myself to dream a little.  While I was rowing the boat.

EDIT: I unfortunately think that the Gophers will lose three of their final four games and end up 9-3.  Not bad.  Top of the middle or bottom of the top?

Well, you never know.  They said that about Michigan regarding the Penn State game.  Michigan's offense, up until then and including in the first half, was absolutely horrible, yet look what they did in the second half.  With the game being a home game for Minnesota as you mention, that may be of some help.  Unless they get "shellshocked" at the beginning and if they can get a score or two and keep it close, I, too, think they have a decent chance.   On the other hand, we all know that Penn State has the potential of just blowing it open at any given time.  Hopefully, it will be a good game rather than a blowout.

I hope so...we're going down to Iowa City the following weekend. It would be a once in a lifetime to have the Gophers come into Kinnick undefeated!
Once in a lifetime is accurate but not the first time the Gophers played Iowa as an undefeated team as the visitor in Iowa - not at Kinnick.

Some interesting games played back in the early 1900's! Nebraska was the only team to score on Minnesota all season but the Gophers won the game to go undefeated.

Packers "Johnnied Up" tonight as well. Vikes lose no ground. My Caps keep winning though, so it's not entirely a lost weekend.

Did any one think Concordia would stay within 10 of SJU?  lol...thats why they play the game... ;)
Exactly and to watch Fleck and Franklin coach against each other will be classic.

Heck no. I didn't think it would be close. Not after the domination by Bethel and St. Thomas. Interesting that if all you saw was box scores and not points, there's not much difference between the three games. Cobs were dramatically outgained in all three. I don't see a stat for red zone efficiency, but I'm guessing that's were St. John's fell short of the others.

Any ideas when they will announce game times for next week? I paid about $100 for a spot in a tailgate lot. Hoping it isn't an 11 am game....also hoping for sun and upper 30 temps!

Gotcha.  Should be announced within the hour.

Really...I thought they waited until the Monday or Tuesday before the game.

Outliers for SJU (compared to Bethel & UST): red zone efficiency, kicking game, turnovers.

Obviously the kicking woes have a direct effect upon the red zone stats since FG's aren't an option for SJU right now.  TO's is a quick fix and unusual for SJU/Erdmann. The problem in the playoffs is that the kicking and red zone issues loom large the deeper they go with no easy answers in sight.

As Sfury noted, I think Fasching & Co. should embrace the going for two model. Statistically it's not a terrible idea. And putting Barber in the backfield with 4 wide is a tough goalline/2 pt conversion formation to defend because Barber is beating about any LB he faces 1-1 in the hole (it's just simply physics).

I'm hoping they're at that point.  I get that he was trying to resolve the situation and find someone who'd get on a streak and gain some confidence, but playoffs looming (hopefully), I think they're past that point now.
