From the Trib:
"And at a place like this unique little school, where there is little numerical distance between a player's IQ and his weight, many coaches would resign themselves to mediocrity."

They're going to get their asses kicked if they all weigh close to 70 lbs.!

The highest possible IQ is a smidge over 200, only 4 people have ever been measured/estimated as being between 180-200. Even if we assume that Olaf is playing with a team of the highest geniuses in the world...which they aren't!

Who thinks a team of 180lbers even remotely has a chance of winning? I would love to see the 180lb Lineman who can block Dumo or Good... or even the two 180 lb linemen who an accomplish this!

New idea for conversation: The all nerd team. What famous intelligent people would you love to see playing football, what position would they play and why?

Some of my choices:

QB- Bobby Fisher- controlled the board and told his pawns where to go.

MLB- Confucius- Confucius say receiver who cross middle wake up with pounding head and no balls

Flanker- DaVinci- They guy drew a helicopter hundreds of years before they were invented, you think he couldn't find a way to get open?

FB- Einstein- E=mc^2 baby and this M has a huge C

RB- Heisenberg- how can you tackle a guy when you don't know where he is.

Coach- Stephen Hawkins- physical impairments preclude him fron playing, but this is a mind too good to leave off the team

Punt returner- Marie Curie- clearly defined halo

MacGyver- Strong Safety- direct the entire defense and can patch holes in defense with chewing gum and a toothpick

Mr. T- CB- I pity da foo that tries to go deep on this underrated genius

Sir Isaac Newton- Kicker- Can calculate the angle and projection of any kick in seconds

Aristotle- OLB- knows what the offense is doing even before they do

Galileo- DE- uses the stars to determine the quickest route to the QB.

Who wouldn't love to sack Bobby Fisher?

RB- Heisenberg- how can you tackle a guy when you don't know where he is.

That's my favorite!  And even if you could know his momentum and position, who'd want to tackle this loveable little fellow?

FROM THE TRIB--

"As a high school quarterback at Minneota, Meidt set national passing records..."

I guess being #44 on the all time list for yardage as a QB is now classified as "setting records"

Maybe-----with a little proofreading...SHould have read "set STATE passing records"

Pat would have a cow on that one about. :D

Fun game!

Free Safety - Pythagoras - Always has the angle on the ball carrier.

Trainer - Hippocrates - Obvious reasons

Strength Coach - Archimedes - Calculations of density and body mass will be a snap

Offensive Coordinator - Descartes - "I scheme, therefore we score"?
Nice day, huh?

Ritz,

I believe Meidt at one time had the national record for passing TD's. I didn't see anywhere in that article where it said he had the national record for passing yardage. Is he really still 44th all time in yards?

You guys sure are good at tearing apart a couple good newspaper articles on another MIAC team. So according to you guys I shouldn't even waste the gas $ to go up and see the game eh? I think you guys will be eating your words after the game. Not like you haven't had to before. [see 2 out of the last 4 years] I know I am getting used to reading it.

Yahoo,
In the past 4 years, STO has won 2 by a slim margin, and SJU has won 2 by Monkey StompTM.  Last year, STO was dominated in every stat except the one that mattered.  We're better this year.  I'm sure you are, too, but we all feel confident.  As for the 01 game, I'll give you that one.  You outplayed us and deserved to win it.

And, yes, you might want to save some cash and avoid the drive.

KR: Thomas Edison would be a great punter/kicker, using his imagination to do crazy things with ball placement.

Speaking of punter.....Wooderson does your squad have a match up with Pig Pen's squad on Saturday?
As of now they're on DOUBLE SECRET Probation!
