In other news, for what it's worth, Jacksonville University has made the decision to shut down its non-scholarship FCS football program.  They have been a member of the Pioneer League in football since 1998.

There were 10 Pioneer teams in football last year, and they played 8 conference games this season.

BTW, San Diego won the conference this year, but was bounced 17-3 at Northern Iowa this past weekend.

Wow. You guys probably would have hung an 80 burger on Mt Union then.

You've been poking around here since the day the brackets were released.  What did you expect, Wheaton worship?  SJU's got a good team.  Better than Wheaton?  I don't know.  We'll find out in a few days.

No outsiders welcome?  That's certainly not very inviting.

Every team left is a good team I agree. St Johns is an epic program that Wheaton fans will love to see in person. Honestly, I am very worried about this game because I know how talented the Johnnies are since I follow the MIAC pretty closely during the year. I have seen them play more than once.

Enjoy the silence.

Ahh, you need thicker skin. If you've been following all year long and then some, you should know that all things Red are infallible.  ;D

The Jays are a great team this year (and we all new this prior to the start of the season) When they are playing well in all phases, IMO they are the best team in D3 and probably should win it all. However anytime all of your eggs are in one basket (Erdmann's in this case) you are vulnerable. They've been held to under 20pts twice this year and lost one of those games, so that machine can be tempered. If Erdmann has a bad day, meaning turnovers, because he's going to get his yardage, all bets are off.

I never said you weren't welcome.  I was just pointing out the you stepped into the MIAC board insinuating that the Johnnies weren't that good, and then you rebuke assertations of the qualities of the Johnnie team with a sarcastic, "Wow. You guys probably would have hung an 80 burger on Mt Union then."  Hang around and banter with us, that is part of what makes playoffs fun.  Don't get offended if you get called out, though.  ;)

Never have I said or insinuated the Johnnies weren't that good. That would be your spin. And my sarcasm is my calling card. It was in response to someone who suggested that NCC's offense was somehow lesser because they had 1 star WR. That after they had just beat the #1 team in the country by scoring 59. I was shocked someone would actually think that. I have been on these boards since inception so my skin is plenty thick.

wm4:
Thanks for the notice. I just read the article and official
announcement. IMO, that is sad. They had pretty good success in the years they had a team since inception of football there in 1998. However, I guess they decided to just be one of those schools who doesn't want the notoriety of having a football team ( nobody is going to pay much attention to them now-not so much that such was the case, although at least being in the Pioneer League gave them a little more national exposure via football. They've decided to put big money into buildings and other programs rather than have a good football program as they have. I don't like that decision, but, of course, no nothing about the financial aspects and the press release and media article have no particulars regarding that as to the decision to drop football. Those only said it was a result of "data driven" analysis, whatever that entailed. Obviously, the official report would contain that info, but not available for now, I guess. JU can now go back to even more obscurity.🙄

Anyway, as you said, now back to the relevant SJU football talk vs.. Wheaton. I think it will be a bre at game. I had thought about driving down to attend the game, however, have a previous commitment for that day (i.e. my wife's birthday outing!🙂) To those of you who are going, best wishes for safe driving and an enjoyable game and after-game outing as some of you have planned.

Keep your shorts on.  You'll get the chance to lose to the Johnnie freight train soon enough.  If you manage to keep winning that is.

(But your point is noted.  Other than the fact I support the Johnnies my analysis is correct.  Well, you can't win them all.)
With all of the Broc Rutter talk I think you might have missed that USee is a Wheaton guy.

You are correct.  I got confused.  MUC57'ed, if you will.

You cut off toes with a table saw?  That sounds like a story that must be told.

Boys of Fall

I see the first quarter as being pivotal this Saturday.  This year the Johnnies have a bad habit of starting off slow.  To this point the defense has kept them in games and/or the offense has finally starting rolling and took over.  I don't know if they'll be able to overcome a large deficit against Wheaton should they dig themselves a hole.  If the Johnnies play a good first quarter it could be a fun afternoon, if they start off slow again it might be a long afternoon of playing catch up.

Oh my gosh, I missed the Stout game! Yikes, and the Jays probably should have lost that one too. My fellow Tommie compatriots just might revoke my club membership. For the record, math was a foreign subject to me in college.  ;D
