Also important to note that Swider is in a big market city and Wheaton is rarely written about and he really never does pressers except in the playoffs. Many of the small town teams have coaches shows and regular interviews with the local paper.

On would add that on the pregame show Swider sings St John's praises and talks very highly of Erdman and his abilities. He had many complements of Central in the pregame show before last weeks game as well. So he may feel like he has tipped his cap to his opponents publicly. I don't know but I don't think its a big deal either way.

Good luck against UWW. They will have their hands full with #2, #3, and #11....and #22! #%@& :(

Would anyone like to comment on how the Johnnies match up with Whitewater?

Should be another slugfest. Looks like UWW's QB change for the playoffs has worked well for their offense. Defense has given up 29 rushing yards combined through 3 playoff games. Wartburg slung it for 350 yards, but that looks largely due to getting down early.

Whitewater looks big across the board. Offense might look to grind on the SJU defense to wear them out. The UWW defensive secondary looks bigger than what we've previously faced. We'll be in it if our offense can continue to pick up yards to move the chains and hit the big plays when they happen. Turnovers, penalties, and getting into 3rd and long situations could make for a long day.

Makes some sense. especially given the moment.

He did do quite a nice interview with VOJ on the pregame show. My favourite opposition coach interview is still Chapman. He was a hoot, as they say down here. A good laugh.

The Wheaton QB and the guy to his left were really good interviews post game, that's for sure. Nice guys. Played hard.

Thunder was solid around and lived up to billing no doubt. For all the talk about their d line, the o line really did a solid job, especially in the second half, of giving their qb time to throw. That kid played within himself and managed some nice drives.

The talk about UWW possibly peaking got a boost in Texas. The 42:45 TOP is impressive.

It's gonna be a fascinating clash of styles next Saturday.

Erdmann had 407 of St. John's 395 yards. That's gotta be Gagliardi Trophy material.

Wonder what Wheaton's 12th guy was doing on the first missed PAT, because Johnnies still got in there just fine....and committed an awful roughing the kicker on that play. Not even the diving into the legs type. Just running into him like he thought the kicker was a QB. Thankfully didn't cost 'em.

And Colin Kummer has earned a spot in Johnnie lore with his performance at the end of the year. A disastrous unit has turned into a very solid one. Not that I want this season coming down to a kick yet but the angst has been pretty much removed.

Probably well before your time Hazz, but it seems almost close to the UMD teams of yore. I saw them first with Ted McKnight (Chiefs) and Terry Egerdahl but they peaked in the early 80s ... averaging 60 runs per game over the full season.

If I recall UWW has a very solid broadcast. Looking forward to Saturday.

Doh! Thanks, Pat. Really enjoyed the Chapman kids and the Wheaton old (relatively) pros the past couple of weeks. I hope SJU was taking notes because they put their paid product to shame.

Those Wheaton guys were tremendous.

Interesting. Yes those announcers and the production quality were really good. Congrats USee.
