Just a little fodder here. UST finished the season extremely strong and even tied for the MIAC title, yet they dropped in the rankings? We all know how Muhlenberg faired when they finally played somebody good. In the real world, I believe UST would beat the next 8 teams in front of them. A similar statement could be said for Bethel (The Royals are much better than 23), as well Oshkosh and probably John Carroll? Don't quite get the obsession with the east, way too much respect?

Neither does anyone else. The last really good team from the east was....?
As of now they're on DOUBLE SECRET Probation!

I think, with D3 football, there is just not enough inter-region play, coupled with not enough voters that see enough teams from around the entire country.  It makes it tough to really have a finger on the pulse beyond the top 8-10 teams.

Also, Tommies suck.

Muhlenberg faired just as well as Whitewater did against NCC.  I wouldn't let that be your measuring stick.  I do agree with your point regarding UST... I would have ranked John Carroll and UST a bit higher and Wesley and Chapman a little lower in my final poll.

The Eau Claire loss was a huge thorn in U$T's side, even though they dominated from a statistical perspective.  The Cobbers loss hurt SJU likewise, but they were fortunate enough to get some quality playoff wins to offset the loss.

True, and anybody that saw the Jays knew they were loaded this year, regardless of an anomaly loss to a conference rival. I doubt anybody was questioning how good the Jays were.

There was actually a bit of bitching on Twitter once the final d3 rankings came out, but you couldn't really drop SJU lower without keeping Wheaton below them, so I think it shook out pretty fairly.

You certainly could have done this (put Wheaton above SJU) but not without even more Twitter rage. In fact Keith McMillan on the podcast said his final ranking was NCC, Wheaton, UMU, UWW, SJU.

It wasn't the popular opinion obviously, but I think there is a reasonable case to made for any of the 4 or so names below NCC to be in virtually any order.

I'd agree, and it's not like it truly matters.

Do you anticipate him being a contributor? Didn't look like he touched the ball much at SCSU.

Well, we're all in the mood for a melody
