Speaking of numbers, I just discovered an interesting data point. If you do a Google search for "UST MN" and "SJU MN" you'll get the following hit count:

UST MN: 9.3M
SJU MN: 2.6M

You could rightly argue that SJ2's numbers are low in part because most people who care about the place don't have electricity. That being said, it's pretty clear that UST is a far more prominent institution.
Or it could be concerned parents check campus crime stattistics..... :o

Or maybe the problem is that the Johnnie faithful don't know how to spell "SJU."

...or it means that people know about SJU, so there is no needs to Google. The 9.5M are going, "What is an UST?"

I'm not sure you guys know how search engines work. The "hits" aren't a reflection of how many people are searching for something; they're about how many people are talking about something. I'm sure SJ2 is a hot topic around the local grain and feed, but online far more people are interested in UST.

If you're simply looking at the search count then that only tells you how many links Google has found which link to "ust mn" related content.  As Google spends a lot of time cataloguing the depths of the dark side of the internet, including porn, gambling, and drug trafficking, I'm not surprised UST has a three times higher link rate.

If you want to know how popular a site is then you need to check out Google Trends.  And here we find that UST, being three (or is it four) times larger than SJU, garners almost exactly the same amount of attention from Google Search users.

Not surprisingly, the top search related to "sju mn" is "sju football".

Perhaps more intriguing is the fact that the top search related to "ust mn" is "jobs at unc chapel hill".  Now explain that little mystery.

Just a little fodder here. UST finished the season extremely strong and even tied for the MIAC title, yet they dropped in the rankings? We all know how Muhlenberg faired when they finally played somebody good. In the real world, I believe UST would beat the next 8 teams in front of them. A similar statement could be said for Bethel (The Royals are much better than 23), as well Oshkosh and probably John Carroll? Don't quite get the obsession with the east, way too much respect?
Muhlenberg faired just as well as Whitewater did against NCC.  I wouldn't let that be your measuring stick.  I do agree with your point regarding UST... I would have ranked John Carroll and UST a bit higher and Wesley and Chapman a little lower in my final poll.

North Central called off the dogs mid 3rd quarter against the neutered Mules. They coasted to that domination. They kept starters in all game against UWW.

Any relation to the Zylstra who is playing down at Mankato?

Brother, and I have to think he's got pro potential. Stud. Though I'm sure he wishes he could have grabbed the final fourth down play in title game.
