It looks like Bartch isn't working out at the combine, just interviewing.  He's still nursing a minor knee injury from the senior bowl workouts.  He'll do his workout numbers at the Minn pro day.

That's a bummer. He needs all the exposure he can get. Hope he still makes day 2 as a pick

Ok, maybe this is a little cynical and unfair, but I would not be surprised if his management ('cause as a certain and possible early round draftee he will have plenty of management now) didn't pull him out of the Senior Bowl game and then put off this workout in order to give him maximum prep for his stats work.  As good as we know SJU is (an undeniable fact), he'll be facing serious scrutiny when he does the workout.  Nail the workout and he secures himself a hefty payday.

I see that the college in Arden Hills, MN won the Women's MIAC BB championship and a trip to the NCAA playoffs.

In caronavirus/CoNV19/SARS2 news...

Education is a huge export industry for Australia.  It's been nurturing the upper class Chinese market for years. Melbourne University, my #1's school, has at least 40% international students. #1's course of Commerce, similar to a bachelor of science in business, has a little over 50% of the student body from Asia, predominantly China.

Well, CV hasn't broken out in Australia (some tourists in Queensland were rounded up and the other cases have all come from people in quarantine after returning from the cruise ship in the Japanese harbour).  But the travel restrictions and quarantines have devastated attendance at the universities and the force majeure withdrawals have devastated the coffers. So Melbourne University have today offered Chinese students a $7000 cash payment to cover travel, quarantine, food, etc, in order to encourage those students to figure out a way to get to school.

Australia had pursued economic partnership with China to a huge degree and great benefit (the last recession in Oz was 1991, not even the 2008 financial crisis sent us backwards). China getting it in the neck, though, is going to be extremely hard on the Oz economy.  I hope the world soon settles in "this is a really bad flu but let's just get on with it."

Cindy and I are supposed to be headed for Italy in April hope this all gets figured out.

I have plans to ride the Amtrak out to Portland and Seattle at the end of the month...gotta admit the virus 🦠 has me having second thoughts.

Interesting note for press availability tomorrow -- Ben Bartch, St. John's alum and offensive tackle/guard prospect, is at a podium rather than a table. Maybe a soft signal that he's moved himself into consideration for an earlier pick than one might assume of a D3 prospect

(This isn't always the case, there are all kinds of reasons to move availability to a podium, but I can't think of any off the top of my head that apply to Bartch outside of general well regard)

Interesting twist to this story.

https://www.twincities.com/2020/02/29/owner-st-cloud-press-bar-arrested-arson-fire/

A friend of mine is a fire investigator for insurance companies (a gun for hire) and it's interesting to see how good he is at spotting the arsons before he even walks on the scene.

Costco outside of Seattle is out of toilet paper!

Yeah, there's a run on toilet paper here as well (badum dum!).  It makes me laugh, however, that the first instinct people have in the apocalypse is to make sure you're comfortable wiping your a$$ for the first month.

Anyways, it's starting to look like regular flu according to the latest stats I've seen. So while there is much media fuelled panic and retirement accounts are getting slaughtered, living in a first world country we'll be doing ok.  If I were living in a 'stan or other less developed country I would be pretty nervous, though.

(EDIT: I bet you those coupon clipping psychopaths on TLC with six shelves of hand sanitizer in their garages are having a good laugh now.)

Are you now back down under, or still in the states?

I'm not the sort to panic and stock up on 'basics' (and tp would be FAR down my list anyway!), but have considered getting a 'stash' of our pharmaceuticals, since most are now from China (don't know about ours specifically).

Hamm's would be even further down my list then toilet paper.  OTOH LaBatts might make my priority list. ;D

I'm back in Oz for a while now.  We're still a few months away from a big breakout, I reckon, so the stocking up is a bit premature here.  We'll have a toilet paper glut for a while (but plenty of soft backsides).
