Obviously this isn't the basketball board but thought I would share here since it's DIII and could have broad implications to athletics across all levels over the next few months.

It is hard to argue against medical decisions made by Hopkins, but given that maybe 1,000 people attend these games it seem far reaching when many other events are happening and mass transit continues.

I planned a trip on Amtrak to Portland and then Seattle over my spring break. Leave March 27 and fly home from Seattle April 3. Plan to Airbnb a couple days in each city and explore and visit brew pubs.. Covid-19 and the 85+ cases in the Emerald City have me second guessing my plans. I should be able to get most of my $ refunded / credited...Should I cancel? I'll sit back and listen...thx!
Obviously the final decision is the decision you are comfortable with, but my thought is you are not 70 yrs.+ you are in reasonably good health and I don't believe you have any chronic underlying health conditions. My opinion would be go ahead as planned, but that's just me.
Would appreciate some advice...
As of now they're on DOUBLE SECRET Probation!

I'd go, you don't fall into the high risk category.
Everyday is payday in paradise.

Last two posts are pretty sane IMO. The severe cases involve the elderly, WITH UNDERLYING HEALTH ISSUES. As has been said, if you are neither, even if you get infected, you will get through it relatively easily.

My concern isn't so much myself getting sick. I survived the flu a month ago...if COVID-19 is that bad (which i don't think it would be)i would rather just die!!
It's more of the hassles that i could face if restrictions or cancellations happen in Oregon or Washington. I'd really like to check out some brew pubs and restaurants and would be disappointed if things are limited. It would also suck of my return flight were to get canceled while i was out there or i get a 14 day quarantine but i guess there's a chance that could happen here in MN in month too.

I'm not a doctor, but I play one on this board ...  ??? ???. But as a former Seattle resident the photos of clear-sailing on I-5 downtown looks crazy to me.

Personally, even though I am not that far from 7.0, I'd still think about going. I just hope all the good stuff to do is open. We once lived just down a river  bikepath from the Redhook brewery. If you're into wine Chateau St. Michelle is in the same area (Woodinville). Great place.  If you want, you could bolt out of Seattle and head up to the San Juan Islands, one of the most underrated spots in America.

Slightly different, but -- we're leaving tomorrow for a leisurely motor trip to Arizona spring training, by way of Memphis, Ok.City, Albuquerque, Tucson.  A week in Phoenix, then home via Lake Havasu and Las Vegas, and depending on the travel maybe a stop in Colorado Springs on the way home.  I'm not 70 but getting close, and wondered about especially the baseball crowds and what Vegas might have to worry about (besides dropping a few bucks).  But we're not thinking there's anything to get to upset about or cancel.  Bought a couple bottles of hand sanitizer to take with. I'd say give it a go.

The latest official advice.  Stay home and avoid crowds if you're at risk (older or have underlying health, lung, heart or immunity issues).

I think it depends on the situation. If you have elderly parents or immunocompromised kids you are responsible for, or if your career ties to either of those groups then that cancelling might make sense. If not, I personally would enjoy the heck out of the trip. Sounds like a fun itinerary and crowds might be a little lighter.

On a side note this analysis https://twitter.com/lizspecht/status/1236095180459003909?s=21 summarizes the potential challenge in managing those that will need hospitalization. The vast majority of individuals will not be severely impacted by this. BUT, the system is not built to be able to manage the high intensity care for all the rest. Also, consider that many caregivers, whether it be nurses or doctors, are themselves in the high risk population. China bit it off at the head by basically shutting down large parts of their country for weeks.

And I should also note I'm not a Doctor or Epidemiologist. However I do live in the world of healthcare administration and did stay at a Holiday Inn Express last night  ;D

Is this down in JJR's neck of the woods?

News Release: Health officials confirm second case of novel coronavirus in Minnesota

Quote
The Minnesota Department of Health (MDH) today confirmed a second presumptive positive case of novel coronavirus, COVID-19. The case is a resident of Carver County in their 50s who was likely exposed to COVID-19 while traveling in Europe in late February.

EDIT:  And Iowa reports their first three cases down in jamtod's neck of the woods.  It appears the the rumours of a diet heavy in beets and corn would keep the sniffles away proved wrong.

(By the way, a person I know who is involved with the WHO effort to create a vaccine recommends not travelling internationally.  Not because it's particularly dangerous but because travel bans are kicking in all over the place and you never know if you'll get stuck somewhere and unable to return.  Or stuck in quarantine for a long time as they aren't quite sure when to release you anymore because the infectious window hasn't been defined yet.)

We're doing a family trip to FL the last week of March, which we don't intend to cancel for all of the reasons that have been mentioned.  I was supposed to be on a work trip to London next week, which has been nixed, and my one fear was that I'd get caught up in some sort of quarantine for 14 days thus missing the family trip...

Our normal Costco run this weekend found the store fully stocked on everything but toilet paper, which was completely gone...funny what people choose to stock up on.

We're going to FL the first week of April, and we are going, even if I have to drive it.

I've been unable to find hand sanitizer anywhere.  I have big bottles on my desk at work and at home, but I'd like smaller bottles for our vehicles (this is not panic mode from me-->just don't want a cold/flu/corona prior to our spring break trip).

The Minneapolis Archdiocese put out the following guidance:
QuoteMeanwhile, if pastors judge it good for the well-being of their parishioners—psychologically if not also medically—they certainly can issue parish-wide guidelines for their community. Here are some precautions they may consider:
+Remind parishioners to stay home if they feel sick or have flu-like symptoms.
+Suspend the Sign of Peace or offer it without touching.
+Suspend Communion from the Chalice.
+Discourage hand-holding during the Our Father.
+Empty holy water fonts.
Any changes should be communicated with parish leadership, staff and parishioners. Parishioners are reminded to stay home if they feel unwell or have flu-like symptoms.

Our priest brought it up yesterday, and it was funny how automatic it is to extend your hand for the peace offering, even when advised not to.  ;D

A tradition unrivaled...

My wife has been watching flight prices to Florida cut in half this past week down to $100 round trip.  Might have to take the kids down to see the mouse.
