i have to wonder if things are still so dire that fall 2020 sports are cancelled the Tommies move to D1 will be delayed by a year.  Would not give them much time to prepare for such a big move by 2021.
As per this morning's Strib:  https://www.startribune.com/ncaa-meeting-to-consider-st-thomas-request-to-move-to-division-i-still-scheduled-for-april/569263832/

The lead picture for the Strib story is fantastic. Sad panda wearing a "Too good for the MIAC" shirt--not that day, fella!

That looks like a picture of the "friend zone!"

My wife says, "He looks like a guy you'd 'friend zone' in a hurry."
Sing us a song, you're the piano man
Sing us a song tonight
Well, we're all in the mood for a melody
And you've got us feelin' alright.

.....Another sign of our times. I received an email cancelling an industry continuing education class in Minneapolis on May 7.  :-\

CANCEL EVERYTHING FIRST, ASK QUESTIONS NEXT YEAR!

I just got a message from the South Dakota State Bar Association indefinitely postponing the state bar convention, which was scheduled to take place June 17-19.

I just got back from driving around the neighborhood including 2 golf courses. There were more people playing pasture pool than I have ever seen.   :)

Pasture pool.  Chuckle.  Golfing and fishing has been banned in Victoria.

Brother Justus – a six-year old craft distillery founded by Steger and located in Northeast Minneapolis – originally planned to produce sanitizer on its own. But after seeing how great the need was, the company began reaching out to others in the business.

When they discovered Tattersall Distilling and Du Nord Craft Spirits, two other Minneapolis distillers, had similar operations going, the companies decided to pool their resources.

The result has been a joint effort that has been titled "All Hands MN." The three companies are now manufacturing hand sanitizer by the tankerful – 8,125 gallons at a time.

Phil went to school with me and (our) Bob Zimmerman and was the smartest person I encountered at SJU. He was a theology major and our commencement speaker. The theology class I took that had him in it was fascinating. The professor Charles Bobertz was a damn genius...and Phil was basically just as smart. Their discussions and debates were great. Me and Bob jokingly called Phil Jesus because one time I saw him in the quad perched on a stoop with like 12 students/disciples seated around him as he spoke. It was a bit much but also I would have gladly pulled up a seat too. Anyway, not surprised to see him helping out however he can.

57Johnnie sends this pick of the view he must suffer.  Click to embiggen and get a good view of those rocky mountain high snow peaks.  I encourage others to post a pic or two.  I'll do another as soon as it stops raining.  Winter is Coming(tm) to Australia which means cold, wet and blowing.  Sigh.

Mrs Oz listens to the Melbourne equivalent of WCCO, much to my frustration.  I'm currently sitting at the kitchen table browsing the internets while she potters around and 3AW plays in the background, one person after another calling in with various suggestions on how to use the stay-at-home orders to our advantage.  One guy just suggested that every household in Australia buy lice treatment and treat every member in the family.  "We'll eradicate lice in our lifetime!"

Made me chuckle.

Too bad the Rev pulled up stumps.  That's a softball if I ever saw one.

Some sports viewing for those looking to waste away some time while in iso for the 'rona.

This is the Merger Match.  Hawthorn was on the very of bankrupcy in 1996 and merger with the Melbourne Football Club was on the cards to be voted on the week after this final game of the season.  This was expected to the be the last game of the season and the final game for the Hawthorn Football Club but the spirit of the players during and after the match inspired the Hawthorn membership to reject the merger (despite the board recommending it happen) while the Melbourne members still voted to merge.

Hawthorn went on to dizzying heights inspired by the champions of this game and now sit at the most financially sound club in the land (particularly beneficial at the moment) and Grand Final specialists.

The energy in this game is electric from the opening bounce to the last.

Fun game to watch - though it took me three days to get to the end. The fans were engaged in what was happening with the individual player's careers - fun to watch them storm the field and not knock down the goal posts. Thanx for sharing!

Anticipating that there will be D III football this year

I am with you 57Johnnie. And I see the Devils have St. Olaf coming to town on September 5th so as is my want I invite any STO posters that would like to venture into Wiscy for the game to be my guest. Just send me a PM and it'll be my treat.

Having said that I'm not sure we have any regular St. Olaf posters? I know we have Texas Ole but I presume he is in Texas.

Maybe there are more, if so take me up on the offer.  1 hour east of downtown St. Paul.

Thank you for the invite.  As the name suggests I am in Texas.  That is also the dove hunting season opener which feels like an official holiday in the state.  I am planning on heading up for a few games this year for the first time in way too long.  I have a musky fishing trip planned at the end of September and am probably looking for a little steelhead/salmon on the Brule.  I am trying to convince some other Texans that this is a trip worth doing.

The spring steelhead season on the Brule is open right now.  :)
