Nice, pics, duffman.  Thanks.

@faunch, since you're an Office fan I thought I would share this joke the wife sent to me earlier this week.  It matches the characters perfectly.

Solid Oz.  ;D

The only thing missing from this is Stanley doing a crossword puzzle and not responding at all.

We got lucky with our VRBO host as well. He actually proactively called us about changing his policy for cancellation. We will definitely try to get back there at some point. VRBO's approach as a company however was very disappointing.

The owner actually offered to change our date to either this summer, or a handful of weeks this fall without a fee of any sort, but we look at the FL trip as a getaway from winter, so going down there when I'm happy with the weather here wasn't appealing.

What has VRBO done that you weren't happy with?  I haven't researched it - only know that my personal experience was fine.

VRBO left it up to the hosts. Regardless if there were shutdown orders or not. Many hosts kept deposits knowing that people couldn't come. Some even tried to double rent. Keeping the deposit and then, if they weren't under shut down orders, re-renting for the same time. And when they went under shutdown, they kept both.

Airbnb required hosts to refund if they or the guest were under shutdown orders and then paid between 25 and 40 percent of the rate to the host. If hosts refused to refund, Airbnb paid the guests back.

One company took the easy way... one company did what was right even though it was painful. I will only rent from the one who did what was right going forward.

Ugh.  I had not heard that...yes, feeling fortunate that our deal shook out as well as it did.

We got a 100% refund from AirBnB and a 100% credit from Sun Country.   I've already rebooked for October because I can't fathom waiting till next spring.  I contacted the AirBnB host and rebooked the same place, too

We never told the kids about the trip.  Was planning on holding out till the night before, so there didn't end up being any disappointment on their part.  I, on the other hand, am still pretty bummed.

Yes. Jknezek summarized it nicely. We rented a condo in a development in Scottsdale. Our property owner handled it differently than the property owners of a couple other families we know that rented in the same development.

Wow.  57Johnnie's niece has some genuine skills.  These are some amazing photos.  BDB, do you recognize that church?  It's not far from you in Chippewa Falls.  That church picture is particularly striking.

(57, thanks for sharing these.  They are really good.)

My niece is gifted but she attributes the pictures to a noted Chippewa photographer, Michael Howard.
As a matter of fact, the church was built in 1873, 6 years after Jacob Leinenkugel founded his brewery.  ;)

Yeah, we would've loved to have not lost anything at all and shifted to October, but that's a really busy period at work for me with budget prep for the next year.

I'm booked on Delta, so I'm sure they'll be around...my brother has his tickets on Sun Country, and is slightly concerned that they might not be around by the time next spring comes...or if they are, it'll be in the form of a new airline, like "Sun Kountry", that has shed its obligations to fulfill those flight credits via bankruptcy.
