Easter beer!

Sincere congrats Duffman. Giving up alcohol for Lent and completing the task is commendable. This picture looks like your avatar somewhat.  ;)

And it goes perfectly with the story Pat has going on joining the "D3 Virtual Tailgate." aka these message boards. Someone new checking it out and seeing you tipping a beer is going to feel right at home.  8-)

This Easter snow is ridic.  If it weren't for the warm ground temps, I'm sure we'd have 6-8".

I'm making up for lost time.

You guys are why I usually post on this board and not the OAC!
Your knowledge of camping, fishing and all aspects of beer consumption is staggering. Those guys on the OAC, and other boards for that matter, couldn't carry your steins.
I'm proud and honored to have absorbed, I hope, a small bit of your wisdom.

I end my comments thusly - when I grow up, I want to be just like you guys!
Thanks, ya big lugs. 🍺 🎣 🍺 🚐 🍺

I'm old! I get mixed up and I forget things! Go Everybody! 🏈 ☠

Happy Easter Morning, everyone.  Mass is on TV at 10:30.

After Mass, however, there is football.  Hawthorn are listing the ten greatest games for the Hawks of all time and when they are on youtube then I'll be posting them here so you all can play along too.

#10.  The 2000 Elimination Final against the Geelong Cats.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v2jNtOQ6kCk

It's the top 10 Hawks v Cats games, not all games.  Our greatest rivalry.  And, unfortunately, many of these are not Hawthorn victories.  And I didn't find all the complete games on YouTube.

#9.  2009, Round 17.  Hawks v Cats.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QvvQCWpyuKc

#5. 2016, Qualifying Final.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bEBR5gsS7RU

#4.  1989, Round 6.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EfwZ0Ni2xZg

(The top three yet to come.  I can guess two of them but am not sure about the third.)

I should have backed myself and picked the top three because I had them in order.   A lot of Hawks backers would have been all over this trifecta, though, so it wouldn't have paid very well.

#3.  2013 Preliminary Final.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CMRtSrQgVCE

#2. 2008 Grand Final.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z2jQK8bjlZE

#1. 1989 Grand Final.  The last old school football game and considered by many to be the greatest game ever played.  From the opening bounce this one was brutal.  Geelong came out with a plan to put the Hawks in the hospital.  10 seconds into the game Hawthorn star Dermott Brereton was cheap-shotted and ruptured a kidney but played out the game.  Robert DiPierdomenico had a couple broken ribs and a punctured lung but played out the game and was rushed to emergency immediately after.  John "The Rat" Platten was so concussed that he has no memory of the day.  And the greatest player of all time, Geelong's Gary Ablett Sr, played his greatest game.  It's a gem.

Oz, just went back through the last couple of days of posts, and I'm not seeing the links for games 6, 7 and 8. Was hoping to have them on in the background through the week. Thanx!

Well, it's DIII Week - Stay at Home Version.

A few years ago the NCAA celebrated DIII week by running a trivia contest on Twitter. I participated and actually won a prize on one of the questions:

"What are the 3 D's of Division III ?"

They sent me an official NCAA selfie stick as a prize. My teenage daughter saw it and I haven't seen it since.  ;)

Edit: I see they have some trivia going on this week, doesn't look like prizes awarded though.

Unfortunately, I can't find the games online.

#8. Round 17, 2008.  A neck-and-neck battle to the finish which isn't on youtube.  The last five minutes, though.

#7.  Round 12, 2012.  Utter heartbreak.  I was at this game with a Geelong supporting mate.  Here's the best I could find - the last five minutes.  But without the context of the see-saw battle until that point it's sort of lost.

#6. 1991, Semi Final.  Not even highlights.
