Then again the first concert I ever saw was Alice Cooper in the Minneapolis Armory.  $6 General Admission.

Ha. My first paid concert was Weird Al Yankovich and Charlie Pride at the Duluth Fairgrounds.  How they paired, I'll never guess.  But my first actual concert was Cheap Trick at Twitty City outside Nashville.

I could never listen very long to anything by the Sex Pistols - just not my cup of tea.

Did the Sex Pistols have a song that ran over two minutes?

Bay City Rollers  S-A-T-U-R-D-A-Y Night!   :'(

Didn't care for their music, but I hated those ridiculous "flood pantsuits" those guys wore even more!  And you may recall how they chose the name for their band.  They took one of those library world globes, gave it a spin and wildly, randomly jammed a thumbtack into it while it was spinning.  Wherever it landed, they had decided to use that location as the name and it stuck in Bay City, Michigan. ::)  They probably hadn't ever heard of that town nor anything about the location/region!

Give me .38 Special any day! ;D

I'll throw anything by Def Leppard into the mix...

Maybe I do have a suggestion.  The worst popular rock song I ever heard was on the radio here when I arrived in Australia.  Horror Movie by the Skyhooks.  It's pure s*** and I can't explain how this became popular anywhere in the world, even on a continent entirely populated with criminals.

I don't know Oz, I liked this.

I reckon you're getting loopy from staying at home and are ready to bust quarantine in a Skyhooks inspired psychedelic jester costume.

Let's just say I was feisty in my teens and early adult life.  ;D

If the competition is "name the worst rock song of all time," I'm coming at you with "We Built This City" by Starship every time.

Terrible song with terrible lyrics backed up by a terrible video. Let's see someone take on the challenge.
To understand how old I am:
My first show/concert (although she is only ranked 89th female rock star) was Eartha Kitt in Las Vegas  with a couple of Johnnie buddies. Unforgettable!
Mrs57 is old enough to remember Bob Wills at Cain's Academy. She got me into Western Swing.
Oddly enough, Cain's Academy booked the Sex Pistols in the 70s.
The older the violin - the sweeter the music!

Not music related, but........

To understand how old I am:
When I was in the Air Force, my first Commander-in Chief (The President) was "Ike"! Ike, the nickname for Dwight D. Eisenhower, was commander of all allied forces in Europe during WWll.
Hey 57Johnnie, I'm right there with ya! Let's hear it for those of us that are "advanced middle age"!
Go Octagenarians (and other older people).  ;D 🍺
I'm old! I get mixed up and I forget things! Go Everybody! 🏈 ☠

MUC57, was it the Air Force then or still the Army Air Corps?

The Air Force has been a separate branch since 1947.  MUC57 might even remember when it happened, but I had to look it up since I wasn't born until 1948! :)

The U.S. Air Force became a separate branch in 1947. It's first Chief of Staff was Gen. Carl a Spaatz.
In spite of the fact that I was once a proud member of the USAF, it survives to this day!
"They took the blue from the skies and a pretty girl's eyes and a touch of old glory's hue, and gave it to the men who proudly wear the U.S. Air Force blue........." . Little known USAF song.
Put that in your F117A Nightbird stealth fighter and sneak up on someone!

My father was a Tech Sergeant in the Army Air Corps during WW2. He was in North Africa and up through Italy mostly.Classic for that generation he didn't talk about it much unless you asked him about it, which I did.

3 quick takeaways:
1) What do you remember most? "Counting the planes as they came back to see how many we lost."
2) How did you get to Northern Italy? "Walked mostly. Sometimes we got to ride."
3) Best highlight? "Was in the audience of the Pope in Rome for Mass."

He was quick to point out that he was in the Army Air Corps and not the Air Force. It's listed on his tombstone.

Your father was a hero as were all the guys who served in that war. They truly were "The Greatest Generation". I have the utmost respect for all the soldiers, sailors, marines and airmen that fought the battles and won!. It didn't matter if they served in the sweltering jungles of the South Pacific, the dry heat of North Africa, the frigid snows of Europe. Many also served who never left the States.
Some served with an m-1 rifle, or a tank, or ship or airplane. Some served with pans and cookware. Don't forget those who served with a grease gun and a wrench. And all the other disciplines needed to win a global war.
But they ALL served and ALL were heroes.
God bless our military.
