Retired Old Rat

I have a younger friend, Bob, who was diagnosed with fibrosarcoma in February.  (I am going to let KR post on fibrosarcoma for those of you who do not know what it is.)  This is a guy who took care of himself, ate right, stayed in shape, has run a few marathons.  He is the father of two young children.

On June 21 he had a hemipelvectomy surgery- amputation of his left leg and half of his pelvis.  He is now at home in Rogers, MN and doing as well as can be expected.  The fact that he is athletic and has taken care of himself have certainly helped in his recovery.

My friend is a graduate of UWEC and we have had a lot of fun going back and forth with the football rivalry that has developed over the past few years.  Truth told, he's had WAY too much fun and I have not had enough.   :)  Bob has attended several games at Collegeville over the past 10 or so years and has become a Johnnie fan except when they are playing the Blue Golds.

As you can imagine, this all has taken a financial toll.

I am thinking about trying to do some kind of fundraiser prior to the September 2 game versus UWEC.  I am hopeful that Bob will be up to attending the game.

I'd like thoughts from the board on this idea.

Thanks.

nice, classy move, Kubiack....apparently the moron in front of you seemed to think the poor deskhelp had a personal vendetta with him, and was to blame for the flight delay (never mind the fact that the rest of the passengers were inconvenienced...only HIS beef counts). A-holes like that make me ill. You see more & more of it, and it doesn't make sense.

About the good thing is kooks like that keep the lawyers on this board employed and JR busier than a one-handed beer vendor at a PP tailgate.

Only 31 days till MIAC opener-- a TH nighter at Ham 8/31! and most of the rest of the league open up only 2 days later!!!!

You should have seen the look on this guy's face when I grabbed him by the elbow and told him to cool it. He was about mid 40's dressed in a sport coat and looked like he was used to getting his way.  I though he was going to take a swing at me for about 1 second.  but he just ended up mumbiling something under his breath at me and walked off.  I didn't push it with him because it wasn't worth it and I was tired.  I mean what is wrong with people this poor girl was about in tears over something she had no control over.  I understand being upset and frustrated over things not going your way but come on...

Fibrosarcoma is essentially a bone cancer which tends to carry a relatively poor prognosis especially if not discovered early enough and not treated aggressively, hence the hemi-pelvectomy.

Best wishes for your friend, ROR.

I will be in Park Rapids with Mrs KR's family that weekend, so unfortunately I'll miss the opportunity to meet him.

You could maybe talk to JR about setting up a collection jar on the Stiffyfest table.

URGENT NOTICE!!!!!!!![/color]

The Ranger's starting pitcher tonight is John Rheinecker, not Eaton as previously stated.

The curse picture of Eaton and the quotes thereof will carry over for tomorrow.

For tonight's game, here is the curse picture of Rheinecker:

Write your best caption!

Today's winners:

1st: BDB: "MAN, I CAN ONLY PITCH YOU WHEN THERE'S A FULL MOON, BUT FOR A WEREWOLF YOU CAN REALLY DEAL IT THEN!"
2nd: Pat: "TODAY today I CONSIDER MYSELF myself THE LUCKIEST MAN man ON THE FACE OF THE EARTH earth."
3rd: Fins: Cough, dammit! I said cough!
4th: Kubiak: "OK... if you've got eyes in the back of your head how many fingers am I holding up smart A$$?"
5th: MiacManiac "No, John, the movie was "The Good, the Bad and the Ugly" not "The Bad, the Hairy and the Ugly."

GOOOOOOOOO TWINS!!!!!!!!!!

Maybe I can bring the curse into full swing by attending tomorrow's and Wednesday's games.

Rheinecker, 1 2/3 innings, 9 hits, 7 runs so far. Yes, some bad defense, but the curse is worse than Carlos Lee in the OF.

Kilted Rat

Make that 8 Earned runs, I like to think that Carlos Lee's play is my curse in action ;D

The curse is back fella's and tomorrow I get to be in Left Field to watch Lee in action!

Life is good!!!
