Many FCS teams have their own message boards.  Tommie fans might want to check out Drakenation if they want to start a rivalry.  https://www.drakenation.com/136303/St-Thomas-University-Minnesota

Ah, yes.  Already a "trash cat" reference on Drake Nation.  Originated from a UST cheerleader, no less.   :P

Somehow, I'm not expecting a rivalry with St. Thomas unless/until they join the Missouri Valley.  That could be a long wait.

With new information and guidelines being shared by the NCAA and public health officials regularly, the conference will continue to evaluate options over the next several weeks before making a final decision on how and when athletics will return to MIAC campuses.

So the definitive answer end of July?  Perhaps mid-August?  Anyways, conference schedule is on until it isn't.  Let the boys play.

Unless they decide to fully cancel, it makes you wonder if we'll see other schools opt to cancel fall sports on their own or if we'll see a united front with the rest of the MIAC (outside of Carleton) going forward.
Competing interests and historical precedent suggests there would be differing levels of motivation/need to play.

As of now they're on DOUBLE SECRET Probation!

I think you are right on this, and that we'll probably see the hard-line #tomtoss contingent more likely to call off their seasons individually.

That was my initial thought, but those are also some of the schools in the most precarious financial position, so that could make for strange allies on this.

If no season, I'll be real curious how it may impact eligibility and roster size going forward in the years ahead.

Me too.  Particularly for sports like football that don't roll over two semesters, making it a lot easier to just come back for 1/2 a year for another season...

I'm guessing the Tommies won't care either way, whether they play this year or not. Everybody redshirts if they don't play. If they do play, the coaches find out who they can use on their future roster. Win-win. Also, Fyi, Missouri Valley is not far off, and they'll be playing the Gophs in Non-Con within 10yrs. You heard it here first.

I suspect there is a strong preference for playing, to have momentum going into the big change. Of course, if nobody is playing then it's more neutral.

Roster construction the next few years will be interesting. Above my pay grade so maybe someone with coaching experience has better insights than I do  ;)

If Fleck is still rowing the boat, that could mean a long, long, long afternoon for the Tom Cats

Would the Loons be willing to host that many games?

I'm not sure why arguably the best FCS conference in the country would be so eager to add a DIII school, maybe I'm wrong.  Guess we'll find out.
