Going back to the postponement of fall sports there is one that doesn't make sense.  We can't have cross country this fall?  I figured that was a sport that was social distant by design.

I've seen it lumped in with easily socially distanced sports and seen push back in the other direction. Everyone bundled in at the start (and for a decent stretch), heavy breathing, lots of spitting. Can you do XC and wear a mask? No idea how that works.

Seems like where it is happening, they plan to run in smaller packs wherever possible.

CCHA for D-1 Men's Hockey. No mention of facilities, but I assume something will be in the works.

Not a bad place to land for the Toms icemen. If Lucia has the fire in his belly, he'll do a good job with that league.  While I know he rubbed a lot of folks the wrong way, I think he too was a casualty of the Bi$ Ten puck greed.

With chip technology staggered starts shouldn't be that hard, if they really want to go.  Lot more work for the organizers to essentially set up heats. but doable.

And CC can't really move to the spring. All of those student athletes compete in track in the spring, so the fall season is basically lost on them. The same is true of what I imagine is a handful of D3 athletes at each school that do a fall and Spring sport like Football and Baseball, or Football and Track. Guessing it is rare, but still stinks for those kids.

As others have mentioned, I feel like labeling the fall sports "postponed" is just kicking the inevitable "cancellation" down the road. I really have hard time seeing winter sports working out too. Inside environments during respiratory season. Seems unlikely if you won't do a sport like Cross Country or Tennis in the Fall.

Texas and repete:
I know what you guys mean re: the medical aspects you all discussed. Certainly, how do we reconcile when two studies reviewing the same data come to completeky opposite conclusions? That is why I said that physicians will always gside with their own patient results- there is no other way. For me, as to the other aspects mentioned, I made a promise to myself a long time ago Which I've kept, and that is to never compromise even if unpopular among peers. I can sleep at night. And finally, as to the FDA, I think you  answered your own question, reowte- ahain, it is politics and differences of opinion.

On the the other subject...that's what I thought could be done, too regarding cross country i.e. staggered starts. And certainly fall gold is doable. But, do you all think that one of the concerns by some colleges was that if they had some sports it might be considered as unfair to the other student-athletes, so the obvious easy solution for that aspect was simply no sports for anyone? Just curious as to your thoughts.

On to other topics for this fall. Good news for me, the DNR deer hunting area harvest numbers have been released and my area (in the middle of corn & soy bean country) has been designated "Intensive Harvest" which means with bonus permits each member of my party can take up to three deer.  :o
As of now they're on DOUBLE SECRET Probation!

Nice!  And you'll have plenty of opportunity without SJU football occupying your time.  I may actually try duck hunting this fall--generally I'm busy with football, and then once pheasant season starts in October, that's all I think about.  I'll get some extra use out of the Beretta I bought last year.

I just checked my folk's place and it's the usual one deer limit lottery.  I can't imagine what it's like for deer where you live because my dad tells me the deer are packed shoulder to shoulder up north.

Dove hunting starts September 1.  I know it isn't the most popular hunting in Minnesota, but it is big time in Texas.  I am still planning on heading up to Wisconsin for fishing this fall.  Hopefully this virus goes away soon so I can go to Argentina for some hunting and fishing.

I've heard it's loads of fun when you get into them.  I always bring a gun when I take the dog out once dove season opens in case I stumble across some.

Yes, all you guys (actually all of us) will have the rare opportunity (perhaps not exactly how we wanted) for being able to do some other activities such as your hunting and other hobbies or at least more of those than we have in a number of years.  While those will be fun, I still think it will be a weird feeling for all of us in one sense. :)

As sports move to spring and summer whether temporarily or on a permanent basis how does that effect some of the off season leagues?  I know summer leagues are a big deal for certain sports such as baseball.
