bennie,
Props to The Ugly Ducklings  ;)

Is one of your New Year's wishes that Claude Lemieux will move up to San Jose so you can watch him again? ;D

It is nice for the Duck fans to finish the season with a win!

I watched an episode of Pros vs Joes that had Claude on it a while ago. He was actually very polite to the Joes as he flattened them into the boards! ;) Maybe Claude should move to Detroit. I am sure Chris Draper has a guest room! 8)

If you can't ignore an insult, top it; if you can't top it, laugh it off; and if you can't laugh it off, it's probably deserved.

Happy intoxication (responsible but thorough) to those drinking a bit of bubbly at the moment. I'm currently at Flemington Racetrack with the family at the first race of the year.  It's about the sixth year in a row that Mrs. Oz, one her sisters and our families have had a picnic here on New Year's Day.  My girls have come to really enjoy the races.  I hope I'm not creating a problem during the late teens...

I started with OzJohnnie.

And don't think I wasn't thinking of you as I hit the bottle last night.  Speaking of thinking of people, don't you have contact with Kubiak from time to time, flash?  Is he safe?   And did he get home for Christmas?

I'm pretty much where shoulda is on T Jack. I think he has the physical abilities to become better than good. His recent performances show that he is capable of improving in the understanding the game area. He's still young, and I'm hoping for the best. Gus isn't the answer long term. I just hope they get some young stud in the draft. There are many QB's out there. All that being said, I'm predicting that all four Wild Card teams win this weekend.

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!!!!!!!!

Not to be overly pedantic (what's the correct amount of pedantic?), but you simultaneously hold out hope for Jackson while wishing for a young stud in the draft.  Those are inconsistent positions.  Either you don't really have that much faith in Jackson or you are politely telling me to get stuffed.  The latter?

As a matter of fact, I just emailed Kubiack, and got this response.

Hey Tom,

Yep things are good.  Still doing the same gig not much has changed.  Can't post on PP even though I have an account.  It just won't let me post... funny thing is Pat said that he didn't see any problems on his end,  my "Big Brother"  must be watching lol.  If I can ever get this video of mine on youtube I will send you the link to put on PP  it is the highlight tape of the warhawks from 92'.

Later,

Kris

Thanks for passing that on Flash,

+ K for you and + K for Kubiack. Please say "Hey" and tell him to keep safe, it appears things will be heating up in Afganistan shortly.
As of now they're on DOUBLE SECRET Probation!

Just got done talking to a county employee who was home in Pennsylvania for vacation. As might be expected, she was somewhat down after the Penn State performance yesterday in the Rose Bowl. She mentioned that the cost for the charter flight for Penn State fans was $2,000 a person. :o Then you add the ticket cost, hotel room, etc. Makes one appreciate D3 that much more.

Not to beat a dead horse, but at least those PA folks ended up in Pasadena, which generally has some awfully nice weather this time of year (and is still my favorite of all the places we've lived).  It's not the kind of place where you'll need to wear extra layers or will be able to see your breath.  The Rose Bowl itself has been fixed up and is a spectacular venue in a great setting and is located in a place where there is lots to do (Old Town Pasadena has become what Westwood Village was 30 years ago, plus there's the rest of Los Angeles).

The absolute worst place to play football that I've seen has to be wherever the NAIA plays their championship game.  The last two years they've played in a near freezing monsoon that has turned the field into an absolute disaster - a combination of mud and standing water.  Someone could have drowned out there.
