The spaniard shows some skill. Entertaining first set.

So, did you ever go to the men's room at a sporting event and find yourself standing at the trough digging in your pants for ten seconds looking for the flap only to realize that you put your boxers on backwards and the flap is in the back?  No?  Well let me assure you that it is embarrassing.

Nice match.  Verdaso earned that victory.  And he beat number 4 two days ago.  Gritty player.  As far as tennis goes, this day was pretty good.

It's 109F and so dry that you don't even get wet with sweat.  Scorcher.

After following your suggestion, I should be on the evening news highlight reel.  I'm the guy with a security man on each arm.

Please post the link when available. Or else a snapshot that one of your daughters took. ;)

Ok.  I have read BDB's post three times now and I still know I shouldn't respond, because how can any response be taken as anything other than a cynical attempt to reference a joke about a dead dog with no legs?

Swait Jaysus, we have to move off this mournful topic.

While everyone is watching to see if Oz will be arrested again or when they'll close the foooken roof in Meh-bourne, please sing along to the newest Irish ballad dedicated to the new American President with newly discovered Irish roots.

The Barack Obama Irish song

Background: Moneygall is a small village in County Offaly, Ireland.  It has a population of approximately 300 people, a Roman Catholic church, five shops, a post office, a national school, a police station, and two pubs.

President-elect of the United States Barack Obama's great-great-great grandfather, Falmouth Kearney, emigrated from Moneygall to New York City at the age of 19 in 1850 and eventually resettled in Tipton County, Indiana.  Kearney 's father had been the village shoemaker, then a wealthy skill trade.

And now for the SONG...Crank up your speakers.

I'm just about to head out and grab a sandwich for lunch.  Currently 106F and 12% humidity.  I expect to come back either looking like a raisin or like that bad guy in Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade after he drank from the wrong cup...

OzJohnnie

It's now up to 109F with only 11% humidity.  Poke me with a fork and call me done.  I'm so looking forward to that commute home tonight.  Maybe I'll hang around work until 8pm or so when mercury will drop below 100...

The good news is that a cool change is expected on Sunday before the temperatures shoot up again.  We'll only see a high of about 93F on the day of rest.  Blooming artic-like, that is.

So Oz, you want me to ship you some of this northern minnesota air? Woke up to -32 a couple of weeks ago. Let's calculate that....only a 141 degree difference. This morning was balmy, only -2.
I fly any cargo that you can pay to run
The bush league pilots, they just can't get the job done
You've got to fly down the canyon, don't never see the sun
There's no such thing as an easy run

OzJohnnie

We might be able to squeeze another five degrees here and if you take trip up to I Falls we'll be able to boil an egg with the difference.

I know you are all sick of the weather updates, but this is friggin' nuts.  It is currently 44.7C.  That is 112.5F and there is only 9% humidity.

It's like I'm living in a fan forced oven.  At this point, a little below zero in a nice warm house would suit me just fine.

What is the normal temp for this time of year?
If you can't ignore an insult, top it; if you can't top it, laugh it off; and if you can't laugh it off, it's probably deserved.

We'll usually get four or five scattered days over 40C (104F) in a summer, but we had three in a row that broke 43 (109.4).  Hottest in a long, long time.  Next week expects another three days over 40.

A great thing about the Melbourne heat waves are the inevitable cool change.  This heat wave's cool change just came through and it feels like someone turned on a giant air conditioner, even though it's still warm.  It got up to 45.1 (113.2) this afternoon.  Twenty minutes later and we're sitting on 32 (89.6).
