How 'bout the SJU attendance figures on the front page... I like the bit about attendance figures "... are often over inflated".

I saw that as well.  A great use of the "Who?  Me?" defense in journalism.  Plant the smear, lack the evidence, leave the impression then innocently claim that wasn't the intent at all.

We didn't mean SJU has been lying about their attendance 12 of the last 16 years, honest!  It's those other schools that inflate their numbers.  It was completely innocent that we mentioned other school practices in a write up about SJU and attendance.  Really.  I can't believe you would draw the conclusion that any straight reading of the article would conclude.

EDIT:  The more I think about it the more steamed I get.  I had managed to ignore this slight, Dusty.  Thanks.  What really irks me about a throw-away smear like this is that it actually encourages bad behavior.  Inflating schools can now justify their behavior with the claim that everyone cheats anyway, and St. John's is the worst of the bunch.  And of course, our protestations of unfair treatment are met with the challenge, "Prove they don't cheat."  So now we must prove a negative and our innocence when no evidence of guilt, just an empty claim, was ever presented.  So, yeah, I noticed that line as well.

Geez, dude, calm down. It's not like SJU is reporting rounded numbers like most schools. I've been through the gate at St. John's enough to know they're taking tickets.

I edited the story to read as follows.

"Very few schools keep precise attendance figures, and most figures are round-number estimates, often inflated."

Now, honestly, I thought the word "precise" would get the point across. But now I'll beat people over the head with it.

I would change it again:

QuoteVery few schools keep precise attendance figures, and most figures are round-number estimates, often inflated--except Saint John's.

Righteous indignation righteously retained.

But thanks for the edit.

Now accepting new patients. All bills must be paid in scotch shortly after any services rendered.  Sorry TDT, no problems below the waist.

Discovered by the Germans in 1904, they named it San Diego, which of course in German means a whale's vagina.

Kilted Rat, that is unbelievable! Maybe we could get the Johnnies/Bennies appearing in the video at the Stiftungsfestivities next fall to do a repeat of it for us and invite Red Hot Bennie to participate. Dusty, any chance you could talk to your sister about this? ;)

I mentioned this to my Bennie daughter who is home for spring break.  She informed me that the taller of the 2 guys (the one with the "Tommies Suck" shirt) is her roommate's brother.  My daughter's roommate is the "drunk dude" who pukes at 1:28.
