Sigh.  Two dingers given up by Liriano.  The question: did the surgery actually degrade his capabilities or did the surgery degrade his confidence?

EDIT: On the plus side, he did only allow four hits over seven innings with three strikeouts and no walks.  And he had a 2-1 ground outs to fly-outs ratio and a 2-1 strikes to balls ratio, which are both nice.  Other than the two homers the card looks Ok.  So the question stands, is his pitching off or just his mind?  What's up with the Blylevenesque home run weakness?

EDIT II: Four guys off the bench to get through two innings (at the time of this edit)?  With two walks and a hit conceded in seven batters?  AAAAARGGGH!!!!  And a passed ball as I type!!!   NOOOOoooooooo!

EDIT III:  ... the bottom of the order can save us.  No worries.

Stanbob - Have you been living in a cave for the past year or so? You can't have been able to avoid this product (and pitchman) who may even be more annoying than Billy Mays - or Anthony Sullivan.

But to answer your question...........  It's a synthetic chamois. I first got a similar product at the DC Auto Show in the 90's. They're actually pretty much as advertised. They soak up liquid better than anything else I know of, and I've used a sythetic chamois to wash/dry my car ever since.

There's a fun party at the bar tonight, and Mrs. Flash won't let me go.

If you can't ignore an insult, top it; if you can't top it, laugh it off; and if you can't laugh it off, it's probably deserved.

bennie - I'm going to the Blackhawks/Bluejackets game at the United Center tomorrow night. Jealous?

I will be in the crowd that sets the record for the largest season attendance ever in an NHL venue. Would it be too self-centered to think I'm the one who actually puts it over the top?

I am terribly jealous!!! :'( If I am lucky, I will get home in time to watch the last period of the game. I will look for you in the crowd shots! ;) Go Jackets!!

I'm currently in Kurri Kurri, New South Wales.  The town is in the middle of friggin' nowhere - comparable to travelling to Deer River.  A client of ours has a research facility out her, so here I am.

In other news, the old man is having an important birthday this year so I will be flying home on the dregs of my frequent flyer points for a visit.  Gotta make it over football season, no?  I was speaking to some one longIterm poster here may remember, TRU, and he is considering a trip home as well.  Now, what are the odds that the two Melourne based posters here would make it home this year.

On further short odds, TRU and I work for the same employer.  In fact we sir about 30 feet aprt from each other.  You may remember that I previously shared an office in Melbourne at my previous employer with a certain prone-to-hospitalization member of the 2003 Johnnies.  He's now living in Singapore, btw, and about to get happy like the rest of us married men.

I used to think that being a Johnnie in Melbourne was a rare thing.  I was wrong.  I may have to now go with the non-porn making former Grand Rapids resident living in Melbourne. (I heard about the internet porn related child custody case up in Rapids on the KQ podcast the other day.  I'm surprised that wasn't mentioned in a News Of The Wierd post.)

Of course it has to be over football season.  And for a good game, too.  How 'bout USTD?
