Either the kids nowadays are smarter and learn more quickly than we did, or they give up on them much sooner. When I graduated, it was on May 27, not May 10.

Not to mention being 1909 instead of 2009. 8)

Ahh. I figured it was because they were still on the Julian Calendar.

TDT, does the number .303 mean anything to you?

Ha well played Stanbob.  That number means a whole lot more to The Mayor at this point.  He is getting sweaty palms thinking about handing TDT his 4 ducats for Opening Day 2010....

And that in itself is a feat.  It's been a loooooong time since The Mayor had sweaty palms...

Johnnie Red

Well, today will be my last day in the Republic of Boulder. :'( Always nice to be back in the college atmosphere. Went out for a run this morning along the Boulder creek and went by three homeless fellows sleeping under a bridge. That was a little different.

Yesterday we hiked up to the top of Green Mountain. Amazing how it can take over two hours to go up and back a total of 2.2 miles. It was more of a physical challenge coming back down the trail.

Thoughts on the Johnnie vs Auggie Tech being held in the dome on 7 Nov?

I've never played anything in front of a crowd of 10,000 people, but I gotta figure that even if they pulled that many into the HumpDome it would still feel like the tumbleweed was just about set to blow down mainstreet Tombstone.

I reckon Auggie must be getting those facilities virtually rent free, if not completely rent free.  Even if they manage to pull 3,500 people on the backs of Johnnie attendance, it seems like they would still do better financially on their home field with 2,000 seats (plus standing room?) and no rental.  But what do I know?

(PS: in my quest to discover the seating capacity of Augsburg's home field, I found that they have a new website.  No longer do Augsburg's athletics pages look as if they are maintained by The Gimp from Pulp Fiction.  They are actually pretty nice.  http://athletics.augsburg.edu)

I haven't played at the Dome since the new turf was installed, but the old turf was the worst part about playing there.  The new turf will be nice for the players, but having 5000 people in a stadium designed for 70,000 makes it seem like a ghost town in there (even 5000 in the Fargo Dome looks bad!).  As much as I dislike Auggie Tech's facilities, I'd rather see the game played there.

A tradition unrivaled...

Daily Planet article on more recruits.

The Powell kid could be the fastest and most athletic player the Johnnies have had is some time.  Didn't get a lot of press at Hopkins because the team was so deep.  I'm excited to see how he'll perform in Collegeville.

I would say he is close but hasn't had as much offensive experience.  Played mostly corner because Hopkins had a lot of depth at the receiver and slot positions.  If the Johnnie coaching staff is wise they will get him some looks on the offensive side of the ball.
