so if you play year one in one sport, then the next three years in another sport, have you exhausted your eligibility at a MIAC school or can you play a fifth year if you have not graduated?  I realize that sticking around is a very expensive endeavor and that some schools have a 90% four year graduation rate.  Just curious.

RE: Golf

The Johnnies finished day one of the championship at even par and in second place, nine shots behind the leader (Methodist) and three shots in front of third place.  A pretty good spot to be in and it's looking exciting.

Tomorrow's tee time for the Jays is 10:20 EST (12:20am Friday morning for me).

GAAAAAHHHHHHHHhhhhhh!!!1!!1!!!!one!!1

I can't stand it.  I've got to go to lunch because if I tune into the last couple innings of the Twins game over the next hour I'll be shot.  No frigin' relievers.

EDIT:  BAAAAAAHH!  As I type that, Guerrier lobs up a meatball for his first pitch and surrenders a three-run homer.  If the Vikings hadn't already ripped out my heart, the Twins would be sending me to the ICU right now.

Maybe the Twins were playing hockey against the Pens tonight, and the Caps were dressed as Twins.

What a sad exhibition for a team that's much better than they showed throughout the playoffs. I'm still in awe of how cleanly the Pens play hockey. No wonder they get upset when they are called for a penalty, since they obviously don't commit any.

That game was almost a waste of several Hamm's, a bag of Bugles and the electricity it took to power my TV.

The Hamm's and Bugles were still good. The Caps were no good.

Yeah, my fellow gym goers weren't too happy about the game, but that might have had more to do with having to watch hockey than the quality of the hockey! ;D Eh, you beat me to the remote and you can watch what you want, but if I win, it's hockey, hockey, hockey!!! :-*

Word on the streets ... defensive back Nate Anderson will not be returning to the Johnnies.  (Yes, he got his degree.  And a good job.  This isn't D-1.  ;))

Tmerts,

Once the degree is in hand the eligibility is exhausted per MIAC rules.  There are a variety of reasons for this with the major reason being the lack of post-graduate academic programs that would enable a graduate to be a full-time student.

I have attached Frank's article that will run in tomorrow's SCTimes regarding the remodel/expansion of the Clemens Stadium pressbox/suites.

http://www.sctimes.com/article/20090512/NEWS01/105120059/SJU+plans+to+expand+luxury+suite+offerings

I know that UST tried to get that rule changed a few years ago.  Would have been a major disadvantage to Carleton, Macalester, Gustavus et al.  But hey, in Bethel and SJU's case, it may have upped enrollment at the seminaries!   ;D

I have to say I hate the idea of an expanded suite area. Apparently the Benedictine value of Simplicity does not apply to athletics.  The field is not-so-slowly losing the "natural" feel when the bleachers are metal, the grass is plastic and there are suites to keep the high-rollers from intermingling with us low-lifes.  If I want to watch a game in such an environment, I will go to a place a lot closer to home, where the tailgating is better, and I stand a chance of seeing a Rose Bowl team (though likely not the home one).

Amen, Johnnie_esq! They are gradually making that a less appealing place to watch a game. Time for some of us low-lifes to start bitchin.

OK j-esq, I had my smite pistol out on this one, but it is now safely holstered.  ;)

Instead, +k's around in hopes that the finsleft luxury suite does not meet up with the wrecking ball.
