Re the beer map, thanks, repete.  +k  Where's map for St. Joseph? :D

Re Alan Page, I had the pleasure of seeing all the games he played at ND, and he was a joy to watch.  I was really pleased when ND made him the commencement speaker in 2004 - only mad that they hadn't made him the speaker in '03 for my son's graduation.

Hey hockey fans........How about them Pens?????

At least you waited an appropriate amount of time before rubbing salt into my wounds. I have gained a new respect for Crosby's abilities. Still, why do Pens fans have to denegrate Ovechkin. Some woman Pens fan e mailed NHL LIve extolling Sid as a player and a person, - no problem there - but then had to say Alex had none of his finer qualities. Geesh! Can't we just say they're both great players and fine men?

I'm watching a bit of footy on a chilly Saturday afternoon and the most annoying add ever made comes on television.  I felt I must share.  Enjoy the pain.

One of my 7th Grade Students (female) has a crush on Alex Ovechkin and I had fun joking with her on Thursday after the Pens won!  LOL

I kinda like it, Oz.  On an annoyance scale of 1 to 10, with 10 being the Coors Light NFL ads, I'd say it's somewhere (well) below the repeated Clemens Stadium intra-game ads for pizza and the like.  And it's better than Bill the Alpaca Breeder.

I do love those who suggested that Providore here means profit whore! :D

My annual lacrosse post (think of it as hockey on grass).  Yesterday SJU lost in overtime to the #1 seeded University of Dayton in the semifinals of the Men's College Lacrosse Association national championships in Denver.  Had they won, they would have played USTD in the finals (they split their two games with USTD, giving the Tommies their only loss of the season).  The Johnnies finish the season 12-3.  Pictures of the game at http://mcla.us/scores/games/7264/

SJU has a lacrosse blog at http://sjulacrosse.blogspot.com/; no game report yet but it's a nice blog.

Edit: Nice report on the game: http://www.laxmagazine.com/college_men/club/2008-09/news/051509_daytonsju

Go Johnnies!

No objection to the Lax post here. As I write this, I'm watching the NCAA quarterfinal between Princeton and Cornell. Cornell's leading goal scorer grew up in Minnesota playing hockey. My younger son played for about five years back in Virginia. Great sport, and the lacrosse community is a small, but growing, close knit group much like hockey.

Just how long will the Lance Leipold situation continue to fester over in the land of purple cheese?

I feel somewhat bad for all of the players who had no part in this.  Even Leipold must wonder when the ramifications of his little hissy fit are going to end.

But here's the twist, reported this weekend by the Milwaukee paper,  that makes you wonder where the priorities are at UWW ...

The review of e-mails shows that athletic director Paul Plinske seemed to initially support Leipold. In an April 22 e-mail from Plinske to Leipold, Plinske wrote: "Randy Marnocha just called and said he banned the RP from working with him as well. Your decision is supported." Marnocha is vice chancellor for administrative affairs.

How tone deaf is that? This guy is apparently one of the top three or four folks on campus, right?

I didn't mean to to do that at all.... ;)  I'm actually kind of surprised they won the series.  I think the rivalry between Sid and the dark knight is good for hockey.  They are both great players but the dark knight has little or no class in my opinion.  His celebrations are just a bit much for me to swallow.  That type of conduct is not the kind of hockey I grew up watching but, then again I guess it's just a carry over from other sports.  Doesn't mean I have to like it though.

Go Pens.

Good luck to Gustavus Adolphus softball tomorrow.
I'm so happy 'cause today I found my friends. They're in my head.  I'm so ugly, that's okay, 'cause so are you!

So you don't enjoy youthful exhuberance, and you equate joy to having little or no class. He enjoys when he, and other members of his team score. What an awful human being.

As one of the few Gustie posters still around, thanks. Could be a big day.
I don't hate Duke. I just hate all their players, coaches and fans.

Listening to Mike Evans on KQRS this morning and he mentioned that the neighbors of Paris Hilton cannot stand her and want her landlord to terminate the lease Paris has at the house she is living in. Paris pays $22,000 a month for the lease. Imagine that! :o The neighbors are going to pay even more a month for the next year to make the deal reality.
