Wait a minute.  Cat out of the bag, or what?  And my photogenic smile at that.

So, the Twinkies took the AL West in '87 with a 85-77, just 8 games over .500.  They, of course, went on to win the World Series.

The Twinks are currently 3.5 games out of first place and two games under .500 (tonight's result yet to be determined).  How many games over .500 will the AL Central winner be and can they take the World Series?

My bet: 12 games over (87-75) and no (no, no, no, no.  Clear?  I think no).

The Tigers gave you the division in 2006 (though took back the pennant); don't expect such mercy again! ;D

I expect a great title race amongst (at least) the Twins, Tigers, and Sox.

Bookmark this post.  I think it will be a source of great embarrassment come September.  As if a stumbling, bumbling, tumbling trip-fest to the finish line could ever be described as "great."  I'm afraid that this year's pennant race will be more closely analogous to watching Oprah race Riki Lake and the Octo-mom over 100 meters than to anything great.

I reckon the worst effect of the division expansion in MLB was that the Twins moved from the West.  No longer can we describe our division as the "AL Worst."  What to call the AL Central?

Yeah, 'great' was (most likely) a poor choice of words - how about simply 'close'?! :P

What a fantastic game 6 of the Stanley Cup Finals! bennie, this isn't boring you, is it?  ;D

I pity the poor people that aren't watching this heavyweight fight.

Retagent, j-esq, your thoughts?

Looking forward to game 7. I am still going with the Wings, although I wish the Caps would storm the ice and take on all comers.  ::)

Well, I picked the Wings in 6. They overmatched their opponents through the first three rounds. I guess that the Pens are better than I thought. I didn't think they had the depth to match the Wings through the third and fourth lines. I was a bit surprised that they were able to handle the Caps playing the fourth line only sparingly. I thought that would catch up to them as they played more games. I guess that's what I get for thinking.

I still think the Wings will win Game 7, but I'm not going to bet the farm on it.

I have no farm to bet, but once the Wings win game 7, will that be the first time ever that the home team has won every game? ::)

Las Vegas Wildcards

All the pressure is on Detroit, the Red Wings were the overwhelming favorites during the season to repeat. If Detroit loses, their season will go down as a colossal failure, much like the 2007 New England Patriots. Pittsburgh wasn't even supposed to return to the Eastern Conference finals, their team is several years away from reaching their potential.

Ah, what the heck - bookmark this post to humiliate me (or give me plaudits!).

I'll say the Royals and Indians will finish with 60s to low 70s in wins.  The Sox will fade to mid-70s to 80.  The Twins and Tigers will battle it out and approach (or slightly exceed) 90 - I'll go Tigers 91, Twins 89. ;D

Specific enough for my embarassment? ::)

The first testicular guard "Cup" was used in Hockey in
1874 and the first helmet was used in 1974.

Priorities huh, hockey fans? I guess the mullets protected the heads good enough for 100 years.
If you can't ignore an insult, top it; if you can't top it, laugh it off; and if you can't laugh it off, it's probably deserved.
