Questions abound

Where was Fins?  C'mon, where's that bad boy?  The north woods aren't calling yet.  And Duff?  And Veek Jr?

Fins was celebrating all that's right with America, drinking beer, listening to country music and working backstage at the WE Fest.

I always find it entertaining how everyone is so sure that other schools are cheating when it comes to scholarships and financial aid. You know, that kind of thing is monitored...and by individuals with more information and knowledge than those of us on Post Patterns (namely, the Department of Education and the NCAA).  While there probably are a few schools getting away with something, I don't think any of us are in a position to truly know. So being the Pollyanna I am, I chose to believe that, at least when it comes to awarding scholarship and financial aid, schools are obeying the rules. And if you think about it, the possible penalty (both financially and to the schools image) if caught cheating probably far outweighs any benefit gained by cheating.

Bennie, that's John's speech material you're messing with; I wouldn't go there if I were you.  Besides, as ROR says, why take all the fun out of it?  Geez, Tommies hardly visit this board and this scholarship thing has already generated two lengthy responses.  How would we have any fun if all the toys were taken away?

Besides, you have to be kidding about the NCAA.  They couldn't catch a cold in International Falls in February.  (And your wanting to believe that schools don't cheat has to be limited to D-III.  Or haven't you heard of the SEC?)

Don't worry - I do not actually believe that the Tommies used a Dease Scholarship to recruit their quarterback.  Everyone know the Dease Scholarships are used to recruit basketball players, not football.

My Pollyanna approach to cheating only extends to D3. One of the rea$ons why i$ when wa$ the la$t time you $pent over $1000 for your $eat$ at a Johnnie/Tommie game? There is a little more money on the line in D1 and success is what helps fill the very expensive seats!

Re the Whitewater exit picture....Whitewater and "exit" seem to be a common theme around St. Johns the last few years.

ROR the Central SJU games had exit with them too.  One exit by each team.

Just got this email from my dad. He had lunch with a former co-worker who's got a kid at St. Thomas.

He was telling me that some lady called from St. Thomas raising money. He said no that he had 2 kids in college and one is at St. Thomas so he can't afford to give. She said, don't you want to beat the Johnnies?

Woohoo!  Players arrived on campus today.  First practice is tomorrow morning.  When I wake up, the boys will have already showered.  I'm gettin' the fevah.
