Duff, have you had any of the beers from Lift Bridge Brewery in Stillwater? I tried the Farm Girl Saison and was not particularly fond of it. Was wondering about their Cross Cut Pale Ale?
I fly any cargo that you can pay to run
The bush league pilots, they just can't get the job done
You've got to fly down the canyon, don't never see the sun
There's no such thing as an easy run

No, I have not.  In fact, I hadn't even heard of Lift Bridge until I got the most recent SJU Alum magazine.  If I find some, I will give my review.

The Cross Cut looks more up my alley.  According to their website, there's a bar not far from home that has it on tap.  I may see if I can convince the Mrs. to go tonight to give it a try.

A tradition unrivaled...

How about their Minnesota Tan which at 8.5% ABV is pretty stout for an ale.   8)

   2009 - As Always, The Johnnies Will Shine!

The Stiftungsfest, Minnesota's oldest celebration, starting in 1861;
a tradition of fun, music and food, tomorrow, 8/28, it will begin.

Another tradition, Minnesota's oldest coach, starting at SJU in 1953;
John Gagliardi, the most wins and years of coaching, on 9/5 we will see-

The Johnnies run on the field in River Falls to start the season of 2009;
returning home the following Saturday with Eau Claire, the Wisc schools will cry!

We lose to the Johnnies again and again, why can't we be like Whitewater in 2008?
Cry again this year cheeseheads, losing the games and Brett Favre, it is your fate.

On to the MIAC, parity like last year into the final weeks or a team with losses of zero?
UST, Concordia and Carleton tied for second in `08; again in `09, no #1 heroes.

Number one will be the Johnnies with the goal of no losses for the season prior to `10;
the best and most fans in D3, the Stiftungsfestivities, and the J-Club, celebrating 5 x 10.

50 years of the alumni lettermen's club at SJU, supporting the Johnnies since 1959;
add the addition to the press box at Clemens stadium and the field continues to shine.

Radiance when the Johnnies run onto the field this fall, begin the season of 2009.
A team of winners, a coach with more record wins, another MIAC crown, SJU shines.

I've also had their Bender, Cynic, and Coffee Bender.  I like the Bender.  Cynic isn't bad.  I don't like the Coffee Bender, but then again, I don't like coffee.  I think it would be great for a coffee lover.

"What does crocodile taste like?" he asked.   "Chicken," she answered.

If I want coffee, I drink coffee.  If I want beer, I don't drink coffee.  I just don't appreciate all these exotic flavors.  You don't like beer?  Fine, don't drink it.  But also don't poison that heavenly nectar with foreign flavors and two-bit exotica.

(BTW, this rant isn't directed at you specifically, Duff, but to the world in general.  It's my God given right due to my agreement to marriage that I can rant as and where I please.  The end.)

Oz, does that include Bailey's and/or the occassional Brandy in your coffee?

Johnnie Red and friends:

I posted this on some of the other boards, but just wanted to mention that Hope College is celebrating it's 100th season in football this year.  Although Hope's football program is not as old as some of your league school's programs, still, you might enjoy checking this link out on Hope's athletic website - some neat facts, stories and new researched info regarding Hope's football history, including the first game ever played against an actual college team.  I know I enjoy all those aspects about all the DIII college football programs.  Anyway, all best wishes to all of you and your teams this year.
