I just went back and read through Finsleft's "tweets" from the game.  That's some funny stuff!

A tradition unrivaled...

Tuned in the Johnnie game towards the end of the first quarter while tooling around the lake in the pontoon with a cooler of beer  ;D  I almost shut it off at the half.  Wow, it sounded ugly.  Thankfully, I stuck with it.  Sounds like some good half-time adjustments were made.  Hopefully, the rust has been shaken off and they'll look more solid from here on out.

Another radio-listening week for me versus Eau Claire.  VOJ, how's the North Shore radio coverage?  I think I have listened from up there before, so I should be fine.

Well on AM 660 the Bear you might be ok...but it can get a little tricky.  Its been a while since I have been up there and tuned us in.  Is there anyway to put the Johnnies Football Radio Network into one of these posts?

Duff, make sure you take a bike ride along the north shore to take in the scenery.

MAY NEED ENBIGGINNING.

Thanks Duff!

I think a couple of these gals were sitting behind us on Saturday.

Any Johnnie injury updates?  Adam Weber's injury seemed to be the most serious.

Why?  Did they offer to glue something for you?

Based on your tweets, I thought you were going to describe this instead -

If I'm guessing right, you're the guy who showed up and sat in the stands on the UW-RF side and started complaining loudly because he was over charged to get in the place, I think it cost all of 2 bucks to park and 7 or 8 bucks to for the ticket.  Sorry we broke you.  Then he goes out at half-time, presumably for some Hamms and comes back in to the stands smoking a cigar, he was asked to put it out and he let it continue to burn.  He's acting like he's holding on to an Opus X and it smells like some buck cigar.  Then after the game has been decided and all that was needed was a couple of kneel downs, he asks one of his friends if they play UW-RF again, when he's told no he announces to the people around him that it was good so he didn't have to come to this dump of a stadium or town.

At that point I ask if he could stop acting like a d@#k.  That started some verbal back and forth until he finally leaves and sarcastically says, way to be good hosts.

This clown comes in to our living room, takes a dump on the couch and says we're bad hosts for pointing out that's not appropriate behavior.

Anyway, it was a very even game and the other SJU fans I met were very friendly.

Going back to the SJU/RF game.  Did SJU struggle that bad or is River Falls football team improving significantly?  Who does SJU have playing at QB?

You may have just met a member of the CAC.  Hopefully you took the first quarter and a half to give a little back.  I think you will encounter a different breed of fan if and when you travel to St. Paul on the 19th.

I think it's a combination of the two.  Johnnie fans will know better after this weekend's matchup with Eau Claire.  I don't think River Falls will learn that much against Northwestern, if you know what I'm saying.

Joe Boyle, Junior from Holy Angels, is the only QB this year.  No 3 way rotation.  Thank God.

Holy Angels in the cities?  My mom was an alum of Holy Angels it was an all girls school then.  I assume that it is coed now if it is the same school. ROR is it the same school?

Yes, the same one.  They went co-ed in 1972.

I find it hard to believe a mediocre team from last year (UWRF) got better after losing their best offensive player to transfer.

I think though UST is the team to beat this year (and don't kid yourselves, they are), they will find a way to screw it up, and Bethel will sneak the championship even though they suffer a loss in the conference opener to the Knights.  I think this is the year teams will finally stop being afraid of SJU and start beating them; it's been transitioning over the past two and it will show this year.

While I like the attitude, I feel that my Gusties should still be very afraid of the Johnnies. A new coach, a new offense and no horses to pull off the change (FB and TE) could make for a decidedly below-average first impression for Peter Haugen.

I agree that the Tommies have to be the team to beat, no matter what the rankings might suggest. Should be a fun one up in C'ville in October!
I don't hate Duke. I just hate all their players, coaches and fans.

While you may find UWRF playing well hard to believe, I find it hard to believe that the Tommies can be remotely considered the team to beat when they haven't been a contender for that title since some of your freshmen were still wetting their beds (and, yes, I know there is no guarantee that they are now sleeping dry at night).

And you show a Tommie's penchant for logical consistency when in your next paragraph you concede that the Tommies aren't actually the team to beat, but Bethel is.  Double Tommie logic award to the fact that your real team to beat, Bethel, lost some of their best offensive players to graduation.  Maybe it's because transfer (UWRF) is more damaging than graduation (Bethel) to a team's ability to be competitive.

And just as long as we aren't kidding ourselves: Tommies will never stop fearing the Johnnies.  That is why Tommies suck.
