I don't hate Duke. I just hate all their players, coaches and fans.

Anyone watch the U of M/Air Force game last night? Is it just me, or does Weber/Decker remind you a little bit of Keating/Elliot? ;D

Could the Johnnies benefit by employing a little bit of the Air Force "stealth" offense?

I thought the Gopher offense was terrible last night...and those awful uniforms.  Go back to plain old maroon and gold.

As for the Johnnies.
I don't think we deserve #6 in the nation.  I do think UWEC is good...maybe better than most thought.  I think the Johnnie offense is going to be solid.  They played a lot of guys yesterday in order to check them out and keep them fresh w/ the heat.  The running backs I'd go with are Reding, Johnson, and Awe and maybe a little Schnieder.  They really need to pick one or two to feed the ball to.  Same w/ WR.  A lot of guys got looks...time to narrow it down to a few.
The defense is a work in progress.  Need to get some pressure and get help in the d-backfield.  On the first UWEC td it looked like our corner  thought he had safety help over the top.  On the other one the same corner bit on the to help on the inside slant and his guy ran right past him on the outside.  Their all good smart kids and will learn from yesterday.

I suspect The University is attempting a branding strategy similar to other wildly designed uniforms like those at The University of Oregon.  Unfortunately we'll be seeing those bananas for a long time in addition to the horendous all white road unies.

Long live the red and white.

I wondered the same thing myself about the gophers trying to do the Oregon uniform thing, but I was hoping that the all yellow uni's were just something they were doing for the first game at the new stadium.  While the all white's aren't my favorite either, I'd take them well before the all yellows.

There's no better remedy for an inexperienced secondary than a game against the Cobbers.

That said, if Concordia IS able to pass the ball this weekend we're pretty much f'ed.
For the first time in quite a while, Concordia had nearly as many passing yards for the game as rushing. Bit of a rarity for the Cobbs. Larson looks very good at QB and seems very poised. When he steps back to throw and there's no one open, he'll take off like a shot. Reminds me of Vince Young or even Terrell Pryor. Should be a good brawl this upcoming weekend.

Hey Cobber,

As a fellow Buckeye fan...did Pryor play last night? I didn't see much on offense in that game. :'( Two games in the last three the defense has been asked to hold for one more drive and have not been able to because of the amount of time they have been forced to play the entire game. We need a real O coordinator.

Are you going to the Cobber/ST John's game next week?

Yeah Pryor played last night. He didn't look so good to be honest. He ran well, but he made several poor passing decisions. Almost made me puke the way we gave them the game. We just can't win the big ones lately.

And yeah, I'll be there. My son plays for Concordia so there's no questioning my presence at the game.

Good chance I will be attending also. Would love to meet a fellow Buckeye sufferer, I mean fan. We will be tailgating somewhere close by the stadium, you can't miss us. Everyone is welcome and I'll save you some Jello. ??? (It's kind of an inside joke.) I undoubtedly will have some Purple (the right shade TDT) on. Sorry guys, Raiders play saturday too. ;)

So are we taking the Stiftungfestivities on the road to Cobberland this Saturday or are we going to be meeting at Mick's Office for adult beverages before the game?

Touchdown Tommy

Closed Circuit to Ritzy:  I see you lurking.  Time to come out and play!!!  Where were you on Sat?  The Mayor and I had plenty of Hamm's....

Oops forgot to mention: The Johnnies are 2-0 with TDT in purple.  Just for the record...

I'm curious to know how everything thinks the SJU/Concordia game will go on Saturday? I've watched the Cobbs play twice now, but haven't seen the Johnnies.

PS: How the hell did it take St. Olaf three years to finally realize that Carson Jones is a beast with the ball in his hands?

My earlier comment about tailgating was a presumption not based on any fact or commitment. I think JJR deserves a day off and it that means a visit to Micks I'm in.

Won't be quite as windy inside Mick's Office either.  ;)

BDB consumed many a 10 cent tap there back a couple decades.   ::)
