SJU tailgate and game photos are up at www.johnniefootball.com.

Check back later as I will be adding additional photos.

Outstanding job ROR. I particularly like the shot of the finsleft luxury suite.  8)

Good video of the UWEC game.  Includes a great shot of the pass reception by Pederson after the ball bounced off Overman's face mask.

PS: How the hell did it take St. Olaf three years to finally realize that Carson Jones is a beast with the ball in his hands?

Carson came in as a receiver and kick returner his freshman year and did quite well.  But he had the misfortune of playing behind Horace Gant, Andrew Schmeissing and the St. John brothers.  Coach Meidt realized that we needed the help in the defensive secondary so we moved him over there.  Once our top receivers graduated, we also got a new head coach.  I assume that Coach OJ wasn't willing to make a move like that in his first year as head coach, but this season realized that the pendulum has swung 180 degrees and we had more athletes on the d-side.  Thus he moved Carson back, and now he has 5 TDs in 2 games.

A little info for those on the fence about sittin' at the Jake in Cobberland this weekend...long range forecast says sunny and 77 degrees in Moorhead on Saturday. Unfortunately, other commitments keep me in the cities this weekend.

It should be an impressive contest. I'm really interested in the STO vs UST matchup too. Gotta pull for my Lutheran brothers in that one.

At the risk of sounding Sid Hartman-esque, one thing for sure is there will be at least one fewer undefeated team in the MIAC after Saturday (Bobby Knight told me that).
If the human brain were so simple that we could fully understand it...we would be so simple that we couldn't.

I have posted a bunch more tailgate photos and a few additional game photos at www.johnniefootball.com.

My reason for laughing out loud today.

Great pics, ROR.  Even if you left early to go watch the Gophas.

Posted the latest standings and the new slate of pick 'ems. MIAC play starts, 3 pts per game for those. 10 games total to pick.

A couple of tight MIAC matchups where homefield may (or may not) factor into the result!

Why the hell are we still dwelling on a game from last year?  And why are we hyping a game in mid-October?  For all we know, UST and SJU could both be 1-5 at that time  :P

Because I'm afraid you forgot the Tommie perspective, my friend.  The Johnnie season lasts all year while the Tommie season lasts only one game.

Right on OZ...its like people trying to tell me its a true rivalry game, kind of hard to have a rivalry game when one the "rivals" has not won since Clinton was in office?  How many consecutive classes are 4-0 against UST?  Bethel is a little higher as a rivalry in my opinion, especially when you add in the bad blood that has developed over the years.

Back from vacation.  Sounds like the Johnnies pulled off another amazing win.  I was able to listen to the majority of the first half, but reception got a little sketchy North of Two Harbors.

A tradition unrivaled...

Sorry the reception was not the best Duff, but weather and your radio can have something to do with that too...are you going to make it to a game this year, or are you saving yourself for the stretch run to title number 31?

Hoping to make the GAC game.  I'd make the Cobber game if it was in C'ville, but I am not driving up to Moorhead on Saturday.

I'm curious to know how everything thinks the SJU/Concordia game will go on Saturday? I've watched the Cobbs play twice now, but haven't seen the Johnnies.

Initial thoughts are that it should be a one-score game. Both defenses look solid, and I'm unsure about both offenses. Both teams have been tested early, Concordia with #8 Willamette and SJU rallying to beat 2 strong schools from the top-ranked conference in the country.

The key to this game will be who decides to hang on to the ball the best.  In 2 games, SJU has fumbled 8 times, losing 2, with no INTs. CC's fumbled 8 times, losing 5 of them, and has 1 INT. SJU Defense has forced 4 fumbles, getting 1 of them and has an INT. Cobber Defense has forced 7 fumbles, getting 3, and has 4 INTs.

If both defenses continue to be stingy (which is likely), it could manage to look like last year's 9-6 game. If either team gets sloppy, though, it's a carp shoot.

I'll give the Cobbers the Vegas version of a tie: +3.5 pts.

I'd love to be up there...but made it up for the CC/Willamette game, and don't know if I can swing another trip.

Surprisingly, I think SJU's offense looks more solid than their defense thus far.

Purely statistical and, as you know, there are three types of lies:
1) White lies
2) Damned lies
3) Statistics
