Yeah Duff, I gathered that lol

As it is, congrats to UST, you won the day.

I was only listening to the game. MM if you were there, how legit was that PI call on the goal line that gave the Tommies a first down on the 11?  The Olaf announcer said there was definite contact but he also implied that a case could be made that the ball was uncatchable.

Just want to get the opinion of an actual eyewitness before I start concocting "what if" scenarios.

What a great game.  Congratulations to the players on both offense and defense.  The offense played great all day and the defense was huge in the second half.

The Cobbers played a great first half and could feel cheated.  I wish you luck in the remaining year and particularly against the Tommies and Royals.

It was a well played game for sure.  Got to give credit to SJU, they came and wanted to win.  I dont know if I feel cheated, but disappointed for sure.  the two turn-overs on the 5 yrd line against the cobbers hurt the soul.  Also the second half was not played well for the cobbers.

On a side note it was really unfortunate that a few Johnnie students had to create a ruckus over on the cobber side.  I think the MIAC saying is "be loud, be proud, be positive"?  isnt that correct?  When students come over for the sole reason of picking fights-- its never a good reflection of the team, the school, or the sport.  I realize that students like the rivalry but today was a little over the top.  Anyway Congrats Johnnies! always a well fought battle

OH-- putting any bias aside, it was unquestionably PI, in terms of contact. Catchable? Hard to say for sure, but without the contact, I'm nearly certain the receiver would have gotten it. I think that if Concannon hit him as hard after the catch as he did to draw the flag, he may have jarred the ball loose.

But remember, that play was in the 3rd quarter and the Oles came right back to retake the lead. The missed FG by the Oles in the 4th quarter was a more devastating blow to their chances, IMO. It definitely shifted momentum, gave life to UST and took some serious wind out of Olaf's sails.

The loss of Clark in the 3rd quarter slowed the Oles some, reduced some of their options, but his backup (Foss) was every bit as effective. Haberman looked very good, ditto the Ole defense.

BU wins. Twins win. Then Nebraska collapses in the 4th quarter.  Almost a perfect day.

Side Note: if anyone is interested in a great read on the war in Afganistan and the men fighting and dying for us, you've got to pick up "Lone Survivor".  Great, moving read. Thanks to any servicemen or veterans who might be on the board.

MM thanks for the input.  That pass was on 4th down, a turnover on downs would have had a huge impact on momentum, not to mention taking away a Tommy TD.  It was clearly one of those game changing moments.

I will respectfully disagree with you about Foss being as effective as Clark.  He is more than capable as a backup and could probably start for several other MIAC schools, but he lacks the sheer explosiveness of Leon.  That being said he is the hardest worker I have ever seen, as a freshman last year Foss was the unanimous scout team player of the year as voted by the team.  I really dont think he missed a single lift or run this offseason. The kid's got it where it counts thats  for sure!

The kicking game is got to improve for the Oles to be competitive in the MIAC- it killed us last year against the Johnnies and definitely hurt us badly today.

Tough game to watch up in moorhead today, especially the 2nd half.  Turning over the ball twice inside the opponent 5 yrd line isn't going to help you win against a top 10 team.  So the cobbers now have around 10 turnovers in 3 games.  Not disciplined cobber football I am usually aware of.  SJU deserves credit for a spectacular 2nd half surge to put the game out of reach.  However, I am never realize when cobber coaches have defenses on their heels to go away from what's working.  The first drive of the 2nd half the cobbers are driving down the field with short passes and options.  They get to the SJU 20 and all of a sudden it's 4th and 19!  Crazy!  Finally, this great d-line I heard about in the first two games was non-exsistent today.  Boyle picked apart the cobber secondary since he didn't have any pressure all day (good o-line for sju), kudos to him for being poised in the pocket or escaping to create some big plays (like a 50 yd td run across the red river,  through msu-m campus into the endzone)!  I hope the cobbers can bounce back to beat bethel this week!  They will not be an easy team to beat!

Goodnight! Go twins!

Make that a double awesome.  Some very good photos in there.

On another note, a birdie sent me a link.  Seems that times are getting tough and Carleton may have to come back to the pack, at least according to Time magazine.  An article on the recession talks about how "schools are getting creative with their wallets."  Carleton is unfortunately having to dig very deep...

Triple awesome ;) I really liked the scoreboard shot.   8)

Carleton skipping shrimp and wine is bad enough but can you imagine going to Pitzer where they are only going to power wash the sidewalks once a year?  :o

Yeah, no, I hadn't heard. I don't have the Virginia phone number any more, that's probably why.

9:20 was 7:20 a.m. where I was yesterday.  :-\

d3football.com rankings are out.  Johnnies remain at #6.  Tommies move up to #17.  Cobbers drop out and only get a few votes.  Bethel also receiving just a few votes.

A new beer commercial is out for Pure Blonde (the low carbs are big at the moment).  It's classic Australian dry humor.  I chuckle at the action of the sign painter near the end.

I knew we'd drop out of the top-25 but I didn't think that far. A top-25 team losing to a top-10 team usually doesn't result in that much of a change. Oh well, rankings don't play the game.
