TDT,

BTW...made sure we hit In-N-Out burger before the Linfield/Oxy game.  It was a pretty darn good burger.

Yes, until they played someone, they were considered to be mathematically in the hunt, because we didn't know how the NCAA would deal with such an abysmal strength of schedule.
Yes, that's exactly how you and Keith phrased it, "winning against a WIAC school means nothing, huntingdon and lagrange have several better wins than that, I don't know why we mentioned the name Northwestern, conversation over".   By the end of this year, I'm predicting Northwestern is going to be mathematically in the hunt again.  Get used to it.

I highly doubt this.

@ WithasilentK:

I agree with you on the mistakes.  Against a good opponent, we can't afford to stall drives in the red zone, turn over the ball and miss our own TOs.  (For evidence, look no further than the Wheaton game)

The scary thing about the O-line is that they are 1 junior and 4 sophomores starting.  They could be good for several years to come.

However, I've got to disagree about Flannery.  Yes he benefits from great blocking, but he is incredibly difficult to bring down in the open field.  The O-line is great for those first 4-5 yards, but after that, Flannery is doing a lot of work on his own.  If you get a chance, watch his hips, they are so fluid, its amazing.  Even better, he's still just a junior.

TDT, do you want to own up to being the brilliant Johnnie FB mind who thought Fred Jackson was not all that impressive??   :o

On the other side, I seem to remember a few Johnnie posters coming on the board that after that game saying they were pretty impressed with Jackson.

I played against him that chilly day in Collegeville.  He was good, but I don't remember thinking he was that good.  I thought more of some of the MIAC backs that year (Barkley, Johnson).  Coe was pretty soft, though.  Maybe he would have looked better with a better team.  It's cool that he's having NFL success, though.

It's also important to remember that he did not go straight to the NFL (bounced around in indoor and then NFLEurope I think?).  He was too small compared to now, and definitely would not have made the jump straight to the NFL.

TDT was not the guy -- the person I was talking to is not a message board poster.

I should have clarified, I meant Flannery had to do little work against Carleton because the O-line was killing us.  He literally started walking into the endzone on a score.  He is a great back and arguably the top in the MIAC, and does show that on days he has to work for it.

I just love it when linfield calls their stadium the catdome, even when it's not a dome at all.  However, they do have a sweet jumbotron which is about the same size of the one in the metrodome!

Fins, do you hate America?

No ROR, I love my country. Why do you ask?

BTW, any sign of smedindy? Just wondering how far I've lurched ahead in the Pick-ems, but I'm too lazy to tally my own score.

Anyone who would poke fun at Fox News or it's fans is clearing an America hating Nazi Communist and so forth.

I was wondering about smediny as well.

The Brownlow Medal (AFL MVP) was awarded the night before last.  It's an Australian tradition to be brutally mean to the players and trophies and the dresses they wear.  The PowerPoints in email have been flying fast and furious, but I have no where to post them and couldn't be bothered with flickr to find out how.  Luckily, the Herald Sun has come to the rescue with their review of the carpet parade...

EDIT: And you may notice that after some pretty below the belt commentary, there is one pic of a Mary Williams that just demands something really nasty but there is no comment at all.  This is like the height (or low point) of Aussie sarcasm... something so bad it can't be made fun of - just look at the wreckage and move on.

I don't watch Fox News.  As a conservative, I'm too stupid to use a remote.
