So everyone knows the terms repeat, back to back and 3 peat but how are we suppose to refer to Bethel's dominance over SJU after a 4 win in a row this weekend?

Can everyone offer up at least one term we can start using Saturday late afternoon?

I'm offering up a case of Hamm's to the winner.  We can even make a poll if you guys want to have an official vote on which is the best.

"Connect Four"

Great start!

Mine is "Four of a kind" which leads to next years being a "Johnnie Flush"

Any Cobber fans that watched both BU and SJU in person this year want to provide their insight for Saturday's game?

SJU/BU should be a good game, will it live up to the hype?  Maybe!  It's homecoming at SJU, they are playing bethel (sorry bu posters) who everyone in the conference loves to beat and most would agree is the worst team to lose to (based on past experiences playing bu)!  I would give a slight edge to SJU based on a couple of things 1) The red seats and 8,000 of them 2) The bu players will be distracted when the game announcer says "if you open up your johnnie gameday program to page ... for the 43rd time!" 3) They have gags and who coaches BU?

I would say SJU 34 BU 24

By the way BU posters why was your head coach yelling across the field in the first half this past saturday.  he was yelling at a camera guy to get out of the stadium.  Thought?

Umm... I would put Bethel's coach as one of the top in the MIAC...

As to homecoming and crowd (DIII), it's a load of crap when people say that is going to affect the game.  If anything, playing at SJU gets the players more excited, players love playing there, it's fun.  Homecoming only makes the halftimes longer.  Look at a Carleton squad that crashed 2 homecomings and a parent's night last year.

Got nothing for the program announcements though.

My guess is it will be close, and scoring below 24 for both teams.  I think Bethel will edge it out with a strong rushing game making the difference this weekend.

Freebird,
What if you went with the Bethel 409! The 4th in a row over SJU in the year '09.  I am trying to remember but you have to add the Bethel in there because if my memory is working this hour didn't Gag's 409 win come against the royals?

Well done Cobbernation! That has a very nice ring to it and working in the year is a great touch

The term is "impossible". Bring my Hamm's on Saturday.

CNation: Come early if you wanna hang with Touchdown Tommy.  I have a feeling Veek will have punched me into next week by 9:30am.

Clark: Might want to hit the hay early tonight.  You will be featured prominently on JF.com in the morning...

Mayor: My weekly Hamm's offering is chilling as we speak.  If for some reason I am unconscious by the time you arrive on Saturday, the keys to the trunk will be in my pocket.  Help yourself to the Terdy pak.

Veek: We are pals.  Don't hurt me.  I take back all the harsh words I've had for you so far this week.

Sorry TDT I have met you and I am not sure I have met VEEK.  So I voted for VEEK knowing what he is up against.   ;D ;D ;D  Good luck and hope no one gets hurt to badly.  Make sure you have plenty of spirits to ease the pain.  Maybe use the cold ones to ease the swelling.  Good luck to both Bethel and SJU hoping you guys come through without serious injuries.

Adidas has told me "impossible is nothing" so I can't except that submission.  It has to be something about Bethel winning four straight games against SJU but in a shorter form so we don't have to type all of that every time.

I hope you don't "except" my submission, but you must "accept" it and pay up on Saturday.

A case of Hamm's is way too good of a prize for this lame contest. Maybe you guys should wait until the game is played before trying to come up with some sort of catch phrase.

Otherwise, I'll take Veek in a Nacho Libre smackdown.  ;D

Good point but frankly it isn't anywhere near the level of cobbernations "Bethel 409" although if you ask nicely I'm sure he would share a few with you

Thanks for the thoughts cobbernation.  I'm not sure about the camera guy situation...didn't get there till late in the 1st half.

I'm hoping BU shows up saturday and make it an interesting game.  They've looked solid on defense, but the offense has a healthy share of youth that could show through on the road at SJU.

Hope the weather is decent, although a game where they're forced to pound it out on the ground could be in Bethel's favor.
Yeah, the camera guy thing was really weird.  I didn't see Johnson yelling at him, but was totally confused as to why he was forced to do the walk of shame.  I assumed it was because the Cobber staff wanted him off their sideline, but that sounds unlikely now.  Was the camera man a Cobber guy?

Keys to the Game for BU (IMHO):

1) Turnovers/Penalties: - From what I've seen against Wheaton, Concordia and Carleton, our biggest enemy offensively has been our own miscues.  Granted, you have to give your opponents credit here as well, especially with the turnovers.  A draw or win in the turnover department, against SJU, at Collegeville is almost a must.  A little rain might help us schematically, but it also means we've got to be even more careful with the ball.

2)  O-Line: Two thoughts.  First, they are young and SJU uses a different scheme on the D-line than they've faced all year.  But second, I think most of these guys played against SJU last year and so they (and the coaching staff) should have some experience against the red-men down in the trenches.

3)  Passing Game: One thing we've done better this year is stretching the field a little.  Although the ground and pound has worked well recently against SJU, a few mid to long range completions go a long way in keeping a defense honest.  If Aakre is accurate and Quick, et al can make some plays, Flannery will be that much harder to contain...

4)  ...Speaking of Containment:  If you let a Johnnie QB break contain, chances are you're in for a long afternoon.  Boyle seems to have a little Keating in him, which scares me (cue ptsd flashbacks, a la 2001 and 2003  ???)

5)  The Big Play:  We've got to make a few, and we can't give 'em up.  One thing we've done relatively well the last few years is limiting SJU's big play offense.  We've got to make them grind it out and dink and dunk their way down the field.  If we force them to execute 10 play drives in order to score points, then at least we've made them earn it.  On the flip side, its always a BU defensive goal to give up no scoring drives of 60+.  If they can eliminate the big play and the long drive, they should be in pretty good shape.

6)  Persevere:  To quote Coach Miller, "Nothing is ever as good or as bad as it seems."  In a game like this, with two good teams, there are bound to be breaks, both good and bad.  The team that is able to keep a level head after both, the most consistently, has a good chance at winning.

Bonus:  Get ahead early.  Not only does this let BU play the ground and pound game, but after 3 straight losses, it might just plant the seeds of doubt into the Johnnie players.  Keep in mind, most of them have never beaten BU.  That said, UWRF and UWEC seemed to reveal that SJU has plenty of resolve this year (and weren't both of those were on the road?)

Hope everyone stays healthy, that it's as good on the field as it looks on paper and GO BU!!

I noticed that TDT now has FIVE votes.  He obviously resurrected "The Hammer" (another one of his previous aliases) so he could cast another vote for himself.  That leaves only one other misguided voter.

Maybe TDT paid Wonka to vote for him?  I know that Wonka would never vote for him without being paid as he remembers who supplied his bevies the last time he was in Collegeville.  Or maybe TDT has another previous alias that I haven't figured out yet?  Maybe he had his dad create a login just to cast a vote.

You better bring your "A" game come Saturday, Gomer!

Go JOHNNIES!!!

What can I say?    I love an underdog.    TDT got my vote for the throwdown on Sat.    If Veek's the LWD, I'm going with the chihuahua.

That hurts, Larry.  If you want a wild rice sausage TDT will have to share his with you.  ;D

Veek, I think I owe TDT as well for comments about commercials or a mistake on air, something I am sure...maybe we should make this a tag team event...actually I thought Wooderson was supposed to be setting up some type of cage match for me, but the Science lot will do just fine...the only thing is, can TDT find a tag team partner?

Oh and USTbench, stay out of this (un)civil war...wait maybe I found TDT's partner, hmm
