Back to the topic at hand (that's 'at' hand, Tommie coeds, not 'in' hand): the Pipers.  Is there any thought for this week?

Other news: only 9 days remaining until I board that big jet airplane to see the rivalry of the year (hard to top last weekend for game of the year).  Getting excited (insert Tommie clarification and disclaimer here).

Congrats to the SJU golf team, winners by 21 strokes over GAC and STU(d) for the MIAC title.

Yawner, 56 to 7 SJU. Oh, and Hamline can't punt. Went to the game two weeks ago...they literally couldn't do it. Bad snaps, blocks, punter just missing it. Hamline finally just started going for it a la a game of Madden.

In 2003, there was a huge OL who I recall was somehow unable to get into OSU because of some grade problems also. I can't remember the exact reason, and it may have been more complicated than that...

Larry Kinnard (sp?).  He's an Alliance, OH native and ended up going to Mount Union because his father fell ill, and he chose to stay close to home to be with his family, although he was an OSU recruit.

A tradition unrivaled...

I'm going to ask this here because I  want a real answer, and I think I can get one from raiderguy, or one of his fellow MTU cronies who post here regularly, rather than get lambasted on the OAC board.

In the USA Today article about Pierre Garcon (a very good article by the way, if any of you haven't read it. Go to the D III Players in the Pros thread) it mentioned that he went to Mount Union because his grades weren't good enough to get hom into Florida State (?). In 2003, there was a huge OL who I recall was somehow unable to get into OSU because of some grade problems also. I can't remember the exact reason, and it may have been more complicated than that, but is there a program for such students at MTU, or only those who can help on the football field?

While the sentence was confusingly worded, I read it as he spent a year in military school because he didn't have the grades to go directly to MUC.

He also knew that Andy Passanante was the greatest receiver in the history of football.  Where is he now??? :D

USTBench,
What are you doing with your life? Insurance salesman?  Grounds foreman at UST?

That is an impossibility.  If FSU wanted a football player, he could not have grades too low to get him in. ;D  8)  OTOH, if the FSU coaches decided that they didn't really want a player they had been recruiting, then that's a convenient excuse to keep the heat off their coaching staff. ;)

Thanks for the responses TDT, Duff and tmerton. As I alluded to, I thought that there was an explanation about Kinnard, that I had forgotten. Also, as my (?) indicated, I thought the FSU reference seemed idiotic on its face. I hope to still get further clarification from the Raider backers.

I still wonder how these rumors get started. It seems as though  the pernnial D III powers have similar rumors floating about, and I include SJU in that, as anyone reading these post knows. I assume it's the jealosy of other, not so successful programs, where they take hold. They need to be refuted quickly, IMHO.

Bench,

How was the "Lead Pipe Defense" looking against the Tomcats?

Are you out of law school yet, and back in the TC?

Have you seen J. Kaiser lately?
As of now they're on DOUBLE SECRET Probation!

Any other members of the MIACPP going to the game on Tuesday at 4pm at the HomerDome?

If anyone in the world is waiting for  XYZ Widget Co. in Minnesota to ship out an order to them today, my guess it'll be tomorrow or the next day.

Minny's a little busy having some fun at the dome lately to worry about work.  ;)

Are tickets to be had?  The internet thing didn't work for me Sunday night as I could never get on the site, brokers asking a ungodly sum right now.  I have to be up there tonight anyway (and staying downtown) so reasonable rates are something that I am open to.

I will not be in attendance for the twinkies game this afternoon.  Does anyone know why the game starts at 4?  Looks like I will have to leave work early to watch the game!

TDT,

You have to attend the game when was the last time the twins played 163 games?  Oh, right last year they did!  There is always next year if you don't attend todays game!
